advice, re wording on marriage certificate please

hi i have a marriage certificate which say william astill, servant of anstey, does this mean he was born in anstey or just working there, any help appreciated marciex |

Probably just living and working there. Obviously, he might have been born there too, but I don't think this is what is meant by the marriage cert entry. Sarah |

Hi The certificates I have all show the place the couple were living at the time of their marriage, not their place of birth. I have traced some births of the married couple by finding their fathers and working forward to find the couples births. Hope this helps. Kathy |
