How do i get on the ancestry site? to look at the 1901 census and does it cost anything ? I,m a newby & everybody is talking a different language !!!!! |

Ancestry has 1901, 1891, 1881, 1871 and 1861 censuses, as well as other useful info, BUT you have to pay. you can either take a subscription (there's another thread on this message board which says there's 20% off until 15 Sept) subs can be quarterly or annual. Alternatively, you can pay about £6 for 20 views. To get on to it, here's the addy: www*ancestry*co*uk/ replace * with . nell |

The 1901 census is also available at http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ for a minimum charge of £5. It's 75p to look at each scanned image of the census page. Both are separately indexed, so if you cannot find someone on one site, try searching on the other. |

Bj ancestry is the best value site you can subscribe to and really costs just about a quid a week for 24/7 usage. A bargain. |
