well when you consider the cost of a simple letter in the UK, £2 does not sound excessive to me for a book

hi Ann it was 14pound in total the book cost 6 pound and 8 pound on top to send i just thought it was bit muchDutch

I don't think that is excessive. I often send small packages to USA, and it can easily cost that for a small box of chocolates, etc. (At Christmas it cost me more for the postage than the chocs!)

I recently paid £20 for a book and another £20 for the postage from Australia. The book was hardbacked and quite heavy. Well worth it I thought as I couldn't get a copy here in the UK.

If we were sending to Australia from here - there is a postal rate for printed packages, ie books. Dont know if Australia has the same thing.

But books are heavy and airmail expensive - you could always ask how much it would cost to send via overland/ship - but that would take 6-8 weeks to get here.
