Afternoon everyone,

The wind has gone down a good bit. Rain has stopped. But it is really chilly. I find the damp cold worse than really hard frost. Must be my age, now that I'm over 21.

Did go out to do some work but got fed up very quickly, not like me, and I'm now gonna pig out and watch telly.

No doubt my lazy negligence will jump up and bite me on the bum at some point.

Will catch you later.

Marilyn,

Wish Pete a Happy Birthday from me.......is he in for a 'special' treat tonight? He He He He !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I usually get a 'special' treat on mine.....Turkish Delight......my favourite sweetie.

PatriciaAnn Report 5 Feb 2011 14:02

Stephen,
I've just finished eating My Turkish Delight. It was the proper stuff. The Turkish Delight was covered with icing sugar.I got in a right mess!

Pleased to see you back Maddie, hope you're getting things sorted.

Yvonne, can you just nip over here when you've finished and run the hoover over my carpets as well?

Stephen, you're over 21? I didn't know that!!! I didn't think there was anyone over 21 on here.

Wow Marilyn that's nice!
I sometimes wish I'd gone into catering instead of accountancy.
Cooking's a lot more useful. i don't even like cooking but I'd have learnt!

What a lazy Git !

I have actually done nothing today apart from checking the oil and water levels in our cars and topping up the sreen wash bottles.

Then I SLEPT on the settee this afternoon.

We are now in a flat calm, no wind at all. Temperature up at 6C.

Just for Patricia.........PRT/100

That little formula is imprinted on my mind from donkeys years ago.
I'm nuts.

I thought Accountants were into Catering and good at Cooking the Books.

Tomorrow I will plan to do nothing then maybe I'll get something done.

Catch you later.

I'm listening to an interesting programme on Radio 4. It's 40 years since decimilisation. I hadn't realsied that the penny nearly was goinh to be called a cent!
I was still at school. My 4s pocket money became 20p!
The rate of interest Stephen. i googled it. I don't do stuff like that.
You must have been tired stephen otherwise you wouldn't have dozed off.

Stephen2009

Stephen2009 Report 5 Feb 2011 20:38

Hi Patricia,

Decimal Coinage...........My dad always converted to old money right up to his death in 1981. I'm not paying 10/- for that he would say, looking at a price of 50p.

The biggest con to hit our economy.....and our pocvkets.

Yep ! Interest Rate........and for some reason it has stayed in my mind.....like you I never use it.
It's like a lot of Maths Formulae I have in my head.......never ever use it but it's in my brain and now and again I find myself doodling with numbers..
Like I said I'm nuts.

Tired...........I think I had got very chilled in the damp cold wind.

Now about to have my supper.

Rita, I'd forgotten how big the 50p was originally. i don't like the 5p. It's too small.
Going to watch some of Match Of the Day now.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 6 Feb 2011 05:49

Hi all,

was my o.h.'s 57th birthday yesterday, what a surprise, both his sons forgot to send cards and of course, no pressies either! He was quite upset and told the one locally about it too, admittedly the son did phone and say Happy Birthday and apologised. He said his wife had reminded him several times but he still didn't get a card, have to remind him about those online ones that send the card out for you! Surely he could have found 5 mins to do that!
First time for a lot of years o.h. had to work, he usually takes a day off but his boss needed him in for some overtime to do an urgent job so he worked till 2pm and then came home to read his cards and open his few pressies - one from his dad and some from me! We went out to Wroxham on the Norfolk Broads and had a look round the department store there for some new trousers - it's a great shop with lots of bargains and interesting things and then I suggested we check out a local bar/restaurant where we used to eat occasionally. We joined the Diamond club for over 50s so you get discounts on your meals and because it was just after 6pm they weren't very busy so we got great service from a lovely waitress and the food was great.. He had curry and afterwards marmalade bread and butter pud (all home made not those synthetic desserts some places dish up) and I had the most enormous piece of chocolate fudge cake with icecream after stuffing a huge plate of meat, veg and yorkies from the carvery!
Came home and just got in when his sister put a card through the door, I caught her before she drove off in her new car and so she and her partner came in for a cuppa and a chat for half an hour. After they went o.h. fell asleep in the chair lol

Decimal Day was 15th February,1971, the day I started working at the Hotel Nelson, a brand new state of the art (at the time) hotel and restaurant by Norwich Railway Station. I had not long recovered from a broken relationship and moved back to Norwich and my Mum's so needed a new job and wanted a change from office work. it began over a year of hard work and fun, and making new friends, some of whom I am still in touch with these 40 years on.

Take care everyone, not much time to reply so often now but think of you all often

love
Lizxx

Morning All !

(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)?

Tea or Coffee

Porridge or Cereals, Fresh Fruit Juice,
Eggs, Bacon, Mushrooms, Tomatoes, Sausage, Hash Browns,Etc.
Toast and Morning Rolls.

Help Yourselves. It's on the Hotplate.

What a grand morning compared to yesterday. Flat calm and fairly mild.

I'm not putting a plan in place for today. Maybe then I'll get something positive done. I felt that yesterday was totally wasted.
Falling asleep is ok if it's to recharge the battery. I do that sometimes but only for around 15mins or so. Totally refreshed afterwards.
Perhaps my, not so young body, is trying to tell me something. ROFL.

Shelly.......Cleaning during the night !!!!!!!!!!!!

Catch you later.

Have a good day. Keep Safe , Keep Happy , Keep Smiling.
