Rose, ditto here in Derbyshire. I was waiting to see if anyone else had it, before posting. OH just come in and said temperature registering in car is only 2.5. They have not given it good for us here, even by the weekend.
I wanted a trip out on Saturday to a town a bit further north than here, but you have to drive through a steep valley, so that is out now. Also wanted to start cleaning out the greenhouse on Sunday ready for buying my plant plugs next week. Oh well, will just have to stay in and keep warm. After all, it is only February.LOL

It's been beautiful all day here in Hampshire.......it's like the 1st day of spring!

It's certainly lifted my mood :-)))))

It's more or less stopped now :) really don't want it this week but I'm glad I haven't had time to tidy the garden, all the dead bits and seed heads are still there to give shelter to the bulbs underneath :) (my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)

Rose, leaving all the debris around the garden, is not an excuse, though I use this phrasiology myself. It is one of the best things a gardener can do. I have large ferns, for instance, in my Tropical border, but always leave the old rusty fronds on until well into spring. If I were to push them to oneside and have a peep, I would find new green curled up fronds, that the snow or frost would ruin.
So, you are really doing your garden a good service, by being kind enough not to start too soon.

Never thought on that as an excuse not o garden, but it's right enough.
Frost will get to a lot of things popping up.

It's been a beautiful afternoon here with the sun shining. Spring is definitely on it's way, even if it's struggling to shove winter aside to let it in.

Went for a walk by the river yesterday, even though it was raining a bit, and the birds were singing, snowdrops and winter aconites were in full bloom, and that lifted my mood no end. The sunshine today has made it even better, but there's sure to be a frost tonight.

(Snow forecast here later)

Very wet here but snow forecast tomorrow, hopefully it will only affect higher ground.

Still snow on the hilltops from last week's blizzards in the far south east, but a beautiful bright sunny day today.

Loads of snow on the ground in Folkestone on Monday when I went shopping. There'd been enough for someone to post mad skiing pictures on YouTube.
