Did anyone else watch it? He took a mixed group of children roughly 14 to 18 year olds from all sorts of backgrounds and molded them into the chorus for a brand ne opera called Knight Crew to be performed at Glyndebourne. Then he added a group of their mothers to be the mothers chorus. It was really good and the kids had a great time, so much talent he found from almost nowhere. |

It was brilliant, I thought......I watched him in another series, similar... but all ages. He has the knack of bringing out the very best in people... and he only looks about 12!! |

Well me & OH or should that be my husband and I !! !! watched every episode. OH is more into Opera and classical music than i am , i like what I call the popular classics,! We both loved the programme and willed them all to do well and more important to love it. We did remark though that what would the kids do when it was all over. I do hope the girl who had the small solo part and had a really good voice did take up singing and get some formal training . |

It would be interesting to know if the kids were able to go on and enjoy music in anyway there was a lot of talent there. |

He's a fantastic guy. I've watched every episode of his 3 series and found them so heartwarming. What an inspiration he is to young people, some quite deprived, bringing out the best in them in a totally unpatronising way. |

Hi Wend, I so agree with you, he always seems quite surprised that he pulls these things off, bless him. |

Eira, I remember seeing the South Oxhey folk starting their choir and singing in a square or area in the town. It was great the way he got them all together. |

Good Morning Ann and all, I did not realise this thread was on the boards. The OH and myself, are ardent fans of Gareth, and have watched all his series' of programmes. He is absolutely brilliant. It does not matter what we have been following on the other channels, be it soaps or a drama, we always drop them in favour of watching Gareth, even at the expense of missing the 'who did it' in a murder mystery. He is very underrated on the television, and his programmes deserve more publicity by the BBC, when they are running. |
