Well, I didnt need the gumboots in town. I know what you mean Liz. I am always worried that there might be a weta or a white tailed spider in mine. Many years ago dad was walking to work (car was being serviced) and he felt something in the toe of his shoe. He was almost running when he arrived at the office and took his shoe off. There was a weta in it. I dont know if you have seen a picture of a weta. They are about 2" long, with nasty looking sawteeth on their back legs. Ugh. |

Check those gumboots for meeces before you put them on Huia, I hate wellies as when I was little I put mine on and there was a huge spider waiting to tickle my toes. Those wellies came off quicker than they went on, and flew across the room with my Mum wondering what was going on. |

The tsunami warning has been downgraded to a 'marine threat' but could be upgraded again. |

I have just had another look at the newspaper item. It now mentions a tsunami warning. Could hit Auckland at 10 a.m., just over 2 hours from now. I think I had better wear my gumboots when I go to Papakura this morning and Mangere after lunch, since they are nearer sea level than my home. I think it is probably more likely to hit the eastern side, than the western side, though. |

The brief report I read in our newspaper online did not mention a tsunami warning, but it was just a 'breaking news' item about the earthquake. |
