:-D :-D :-D @ Joeva. I luvs eggy toast :-D

Reckon banana will crawl round fridge and cross-contaminate everything.

I once actually visited a supermarket in Chester and the fresh fish counter was beautifully displayed and the smoked was kept apart from raw and raw from shellfish. It looked a treat :-)

Then I saw something crawling across the display - it was a beautiful live crab.

I remonstrated with fish manager (had stripes in those days) and he said "I thought it was a good idea to have something moving in my display that would catch the eye of the customer. Absolutely true.

The banana I have refrigerated Sylvia is green going yellow......

I usually store in a cupboard away from other fruits, which I keep in the fridge anyway to prolong their shelf life....... never in a fruit bowl.

Be interesting to see how the banana in the fridge compares with the rest of the bunch still in the cupboard !

that's the kind OH usually buys!

They are still good to eat after 5-7 days, although the skin turns brownish. They don't usually last longer than that in this house :-)

rofl

the slimy stuff in the veg drawer is good for soup :-D :-D :-D

I do keep bananas in the fridge........... except in banana season....... we pick them when they're green and hang the bunch in the garage, pick them off as they ripen.

We can't leave them to ripen on the tree, because we wouldn't get any... birds, fruit bats & possums.

You need to make sure you heat the slimy stuff to a high temperature (to kill off all the staphylococci) if you are making soup, Dizzi.

(Edit. Hope you are getting your slimy soup in hospital and they are looking after you properly) :-) ;-)

Always start day now with a Benecol plain yoghourt drink and banana out of fridge. Fair trade hand of bananas and they stay nice and fresh and tasty for over a week (unless others nick them for snacks).

Feel fruity with low cholestrol all day then :-D :-D

You need to be careful with bananas John. They cause diabetes, bad teeth and agression - in monkeys at least. They are also radioactive and one banana can give you a dose of .005 millirem.

I haven't read all this thread but as far as I went it occurred to me that one persons salad drawer is another's meat drawer.

Just a matter of usage.

Who is Werner Herzog?

Anyway........... the man on this video (as the blurb says) sounds like him.

This is what happens to your fridge & washing machine if you don't clean them out and go away for three months :-0
