Crispy fried bread is great with marmalade - needs to be something with some bite such as Cooper's Oxford or Tiptree.

Bacon sarnies made with crispy fried bread are also great especially if you are in a hurry.

Soggy fried bread ? A disaster even less tasteful than dripping or brexit.

Lunch yesterday in the pub, full English, including fried bread, washed down with Wainwright ale. (by Thwaite's brewery) No, I am not going to admit how many pints.
My mate's brother used to have "dirt sandwiches" That is, crumbled Oxo.
