America accepted peoples from every nation in the world & converted them into flag-waving democrats.

Why Kay have a personal dig at me never been a shelf filler in my life as for Harry don't like publicity but have announced stepping down from Royal duties before even telling Royal family they have Tax payers money got house renovations want to keep that propety .Our Queen deserves better at 93 she has been dignified proud Lady stalwart of the Family .They Harry should have spoke to Senier Royals .as to how they feel it would have saved all this bad press just a.shame they have gone about it wrong way. Step back but mean it use your own fortune to live a very comfortable life but show some respect for the privilege life you have been handed .Barbara

Harry and Meghan could always catch a boat to Australia. They'd probably be as welcome as many that choose that route and would have all the privacy afforded to those other travellers.

Wait for it ;-)

Kay????

Kay???? Report 9 Jan 2020 11:12

Why Kay have a personal dig at me never been a shelf filler in my life .

Then why have a dig at Harrys wife.

but Barbara had you been a shelf filler, would you like being refered to that as your husbands wife for the rest of your life,,,,,,,as an example,,,,,,,

this is John and his wife,Barbara the the shelf filler.

Harrys wife isn't an actress,so why insist in naming her as that, you come across like an embittered mother-in-law,

Yes to some their decision is their choice,,,how it has come about is anyoines guess,,press intrusion I think is just one major excuse, you cant be in a position of attending grand affairs where the press is invited where the red carpet has been laid out for you and expext a total blackout, and if they want to call the tune and expext major coverage from the press then hopefully the press will give them a wide birth and not play silly games on heir whim.

Harry has personal wealth from his yearly pay out from Charles ,a payout from the Queen, millions left in trust from Gt granny and Diana,,,

I just hope they don't embark on this save the planet lark while making various trips back and forth to carry out *duties, and they pay for their own security and not flich from hard up tax payers in UK and Canada,,,who stuggle to make ends meet,,,,,,as they have no idea what it is to go without,,,,,,as non of the royal leeches do...…

Many people like the royals...I don't like what they stand for they will never be on par with people in general......do they give Millions away.rom their vast fortunes,.....NO,do they offer refuge,NO,do set an example NO.

but I don't deny them happiness in their lives and think they should consult tom dick or harry as their choice of partner or wish them any harm..

So please stop being so vindictive towards Harry choice of a wife.because its not who you like.

Barbra Report 9 Jan 2020 11:39

For goodness sake how can you compare me to Harry's wife you are so wrong I am entitled to speak about the Royals as anyone else is they are given a privilege life by birth & then get Married to whoever they want but at the end of the day she Married into Royal family so the purks & benefits come with the Role as Harry's wife read today's papers they have upset a lot of people .don't want publicity but hey we will announce stepping down from The Family .tell them later ? They have a duty to the Queen as well as living a reasonable life of their own .respect honour .his heritage at least she was an actress in a soap so I do not lie .last post on this subject .I have errands housework to do Barbara Bye

Free speech and a responsible press in the UK are not just in jeopardy but are diminishing with the passage of time. :-(

Harry and Meghan have upset a lot of the media, by exposing their bullying and unfounded speculation. The media have turned this into them apparently upsetting 'the people'
Do you think the media would have given so much 'air time' to Meghan's half sister and father if they'd been saying what a fabulously close, well adjusted family the Markle's were? No. They focussed on the dysfunctional aspects of ALL family life, but, apparently, according to these two no-hopers, it was worse in the Markle family.
In all reality, does anyone really care what her half sister or father say?
I personally don't but some are 'taken in' by their ramblings, aided by careful editing from the media.

Now we have ex aides and ex chefs donating their fourpenny worth.
Perhaps they're ex employees for a reason.

What's wrong with being a shelf filler Barbara?!

IF you listen to the news you will hear that it seems they announced it before intended BECAUSE the SUN ran the story.

Some points to consider.

a) he's a married man, an adult, announcing his intention to leave the family firm and do something different ( is that not what a lot of people do?).

b) He was young when his mum died, she was not protected as much as she might have been ( many people think the Royal family was at fault over that) and Harry wants to prevent the same level of attention from the press being a burden to his wife ( " Meghan's not pregnant", "there's a surrogate mother", being just a couple of comments ).

c) IF Prince Andrew as a "spare heir" had struck out on his own, he might have been less of a problem to the Queen, than he has turned out to be!

d) and most important, the intentions of Meghan and Harry will not affect any of us in any meaningful way, it will have no bearing on our lives whether they live here, Canada or anywhere they choose. Charles will be king after his mother, William will be King after that, and has obviously accepted the role in advance as it were and is of the temperament to take it on, when it happens. He and Catherine have provided 3 possible heirs after him.

Nothing to see here move along, and 'stop twitching the nets'.

Live your own life, let them live theirs!

And personally if I were the Queen, I would start on a round of rooting out the gossips from among her servants ( who I assume must have signed some form of non-disclosure aggreement) and booting them out without delay or recompense!

People are indeed entitled to their own opinion - it is the vitriolic way some opinions are expressed that is so awful.

The opinions I have read last night and this morning expressed by wannabes, nobodies and think-they-are-somebodies (that I have NOT read beyond the headlines) are beyond belief. This is the very thing that in part has forced this couple to want to escape. I don't blame them one bit.

One thing this has done for me is to help me to understand how 'keyboard warriors' on any media platform can drive people to consider whether their lives are worth living. It is bullying at its worst and I have never seen it as intense as it is today. :-( :-(

Sharron

Sharron Report 9 Jan 2020 13:32

I had thought that Meghan Markle would have been much better suited to dealing with publicity and the press from having been an actress.Maybe the decision has been made because she does understand fame so well.

Of course they are not very similar to Edward Vlll and Wallis Simpson but that does not stop the public psyche perceiving her that way and the world is very different too.At the time of the abdication there was international turmoil and threat , the one thing GB needed was a bit of stability, especially in the Royal Family.

There is a difference between honest media comments and down right nasty trolling

Meghan has been trolled mercilessly by media and Facebook postings attributing all sorts of agendas by her in marrying Harry in order to change the royal family and it’s establishment.

Really would anyone want to be at the receiving end of such hate and not be able to refute a lot of the lies and slanted stories

Harry saw how his mum was pursued by the media and how it ended so I bet he is worried for his wife’s health and sanity and indeed if it could drive them apart

They obviously love each other and aren’t bothered about showing it in public

Harry doesn't want to leave the Family just wants more freedom to be Husband & Father at the end of the Day he should have talked to the Queen .he has had a privilege life Tax payers money for dream wedding there is I think a right & wrong way to do this. it's a shame as it has turned into a fiasco .only time will tell

I would not mind betting that that big, expensive wedding generated a great deal more revenue than ever it cost..

"She changed our Harry", yes probably, most people's priorities and view of the future changes when they marry and have a child. That is as it should be surely?

But he had already changed, he was no longer the boy walking behind his mother's coffin, he wasn't the young lad wearing a fancy dress Nazi outfit, he wasn't the party boy phographed naked. He had already changed, happiest supporting ex servicemen, happiest working for his charity in Lesotho, happiest when able to deal with the past through supporting mental health charities.

Neither he nor she were put on this earth for our 'amusement' nor to live their lives according to some out dated viewpoint of what the second son of a future King, "should do". Princess Ann and Prince Edward have led relatively private lives, NO ONE ever suggested their child was not theirs, no one dug up ( as far as I recall) any sordid details of their respective partners family. If they did it was a one off article quickly forgotten.

Yesterday, a statement from the Palace said:'Discussions are at an early stage.....these are complicated issues that will take time to work through".
The SUN published this, but went on to 'state' that 'The Queen was very upset' - how did they know?

Then:
"Former royal spokesman Dickie Arbiter has claimed that Queen Elizabeth II would be more upset by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's exit from their royal duties than Prince Andrew's scandal last year. ... 'The Queen will be feeling very let down and very angry,' Dickie began." said 5 hours ago

FORMER Royal Spokesman. Purely his view.

Then the Telegraph:
"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex opened a rift in the royal family last night as — without consulting either the Queen or the Prince of Wales — they announced that they were stepping down as “senior members”.

The Queen was understood to be very disappointed that the couple rushed to put out a “personal message” in which they said that they were planning to divide their time between Britain and North America even though they had not reached any agreement with Buckingham Palace."

Was the Queen disappointed by Harry and Meghan, or because the press just wouldn't stop speculating, forcing Harry to put out the message?
Who knows?
But you can be sure the press will be spouting any old tripe to out tripe their 'rivals'.
The media and 'hangers on' who, it appears will say anything for their 5 minutes of fame, or a few quid, are the ones creating a fiasco
