Bit late but have only just spotted that Boris is putting his head above the parapet today.

Took me by surprise as well. Getting a bit much now, fed up with disruption of TV which is practically all we have in lockdown. Surely he can’t tell us spanything new.

I think I’ve become allergic to the press conferences ;-)

Hancock’s half hour (if only!) tonight.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 25 Jan 2021 13:16

Any idea of the subject or does he just enjoy his moments of fame.

nameslessone

nameslessone Report 25 Jan 2021 14:50

I don't think it has been leaked yet ;-)

There have been several comments about return of schools so I wonder whether Hancock is going to mention those tonight. However, I would have expected
Williamson to talk about those so ........

... as Hancock is Health, perhaps he is going to tell us that, alas, vaccinations are going to be held up a bit because we cannot get the supply of vaccines necessary at the moment.

Any other ideas from anyone?

JoyLouise

Here's a thought about Hancock's half hour!

I believe that by the end of the 12-week waiting period, the original first vaccination still offers protection but it diminishes with the passage of time although it is boosted once that second jab is done.

I'd be happier if there were 6 to 8 weeks between jabs.. That would mean the at risk groups would not have to wait so long for that extra bit of protection while, at the same time, more people can be protected.

I'd be well pleased if they decided to return to three to four weeks between the jabs.

As Hancock is Health, I wonder if he is going to tell us about changing the time-scale tonight because if they're having difficulty getting a good supply of the vaccine as they seem to be at the moment they may be running scared that if a shortage occurs again it may mean that those waiting for their second dose may have to wait beyond 12 weeks.

All supposed that they've thought about that, of course.

I hope Hancock's 'upped' his acting game.
That 'crying' he did when the vaccine was rolled out, was lamentable.

“I don’t beleeeve it”. Boris is doing another one tonight.

Presumably about enforced quarantine on entering the UK.

It made me cross the other day that footballers wanted to be allowed quarantine free travel they should have double as many have broken the rules over the last year.

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 26 Jan 2021 17:38

I don't believe them!

Economy, economy, is that first and foremost in the minds of Boris and co. They do know that when this is over, people will still want to go for a drink, a coffee, a meal, buy shoes, dresses, household goods etc? Stores and cafes that have closed down will be re-opened by the original owners or new entrepreneurs because money is there to be made.

100k deaths - shocking, but while some point to the US and say our death toll is not so bad as their's, not one minister or scientist has actually mentioned per head of population that I know of. Why not? Because I think if they do use the truer calculation of deaths per head of population, I think ours will be just as bad and could well exceed the US figure.

Shocking figure as well as shocking behaviour by those elected to represent us.

I’m not really sure how we can accurately compare as I expect we don’t all use the same criteria.

It looks as though we won’t get the hotel quarantine decision until Wednesday. There is a suggestion that WE, the taxpayers, will have to pay for those that can persuade the authorities that they can’t afford the bill. Lucky them. :-|

Surely if someone can afford to travel overseas be it plane or boat whatever they can afford a hotel stay??

Everyone should be made to do it. Even those with pots of money and/or homes in the UK
