This is what happens when you appoint your ex chancellor to be in charge of health. :-(

OH had the booster on Sunday and I’m getting mine on Saturday.

He felt a bit rough in the night but seems OK now.

I’m glad to be getting it as locally the numbers are horrendous.

My mother (in England) had her third jab with her flu jab recently, the difference being this time she had Phizer and had the Oxford one before.
Yes the jab doesn't stop you getting sick but then neither does the flu jab as a rule.

Fortunately, the number of cases in Scotland is decreasing.

"October 14, 2021.
. . . . . . .Cases have been falling steadily in Scotland for the past few weeks. Rates are highest in the Midlands and North of England where vaccine rates are some of the lowest."

I wouldn't call them mistakes Joy. How that man is still in power is beyond me.

I think they’re dragging their feet far too long, yet again!

I am a little peeved too that Boris is not protecting the health of English residents in the same way that Irish, Scottish and Welsh leaders are protecting their residents.

They also seem hell-bent on making the lives of all hospital medics in England harder - they are repeating last year’s mistakes, it seems. :-0

Looking likely that Plan B will start in some areas soon. That’s fine, I still wear my mask, I rarely go into anywhere needing a covid Passport ( I don’t have a smart phone) and I don’t work.

I agree with you Joan. For various reasons & concerns neither have i had any injections and am not having them either.
People here that have been double jagged have become ill and died recently. Our cases are rising everyday regardless of who is jagged.

Nothing can stop it spreading. It may mean that if you catch it and you have been jagged, you may not be so unwell, but actually not enough is known about results as its far too early yet to say!

We still have to wear face coverings here in all public places but cases are rising out of control.

I fear another lockdown looming.

I know what the injections are supposed to be for but at the same time if they don't stop people from getting infected, we are just going to be going round in circles for ever more!!
I wouldn't be a happy chappy IF I had had 1 2 or 3 jabs for the same illness & I was still getting infected etc, I don't like the idea that people need to have several injections for the same thing in a matter of a few weeks / months!

Joan.

Island Report 20 Oct 2021 18:34

Joan, the vaccinations are to prevent people from becoming seriously ill or dying should become infected. They aren't about stopping infection spreading.

Amokavid

Amokavid Report 20 Oct 2021 17:31

Too much experimenting going on as far as I'm concerned! I have not had the injections & don't want them.
Much of the population have had 2 jabs, some have had 3, there are still several restrictions in place (Scotland for me) including face masks & STILL the Covid cases are continuing to go up, up & up.

Joan.

Thinking this through and applying some logic.
We know that over 50s (?) and those with certain health issues are being offered a third vaccine aka 'booster'. Perhaps those with the most serious health issues are/will be advised to have a top up further down the line. That would make sense to me.

There's not much 'singing from the same song sheet' these days - just at a time when it's vital :-0 :-|

Names, pretty much what my cousin said. She told me that the third jab was a full dose but the booster was not.

Island, that is what I thought until my cousin informed me otherwise. I did say to her that I had never heard of a third jab but had read about those with severe medical conditions would get the booster before everyone else - which my cousin did.

However, I don't disagree with you as I, too, would trust my healthcare team.

I have to trust my health care team.

nameslessone Report 20 Oct 2021 16:12

And yet someone else is due to get their 3rd jab any day with a booster to follow in a couple of months.

Which way is up and which way is down?

Sajid Javed is giving a press conference at 5.

Island Report 20 Oct 2021 15:46

Having spoken to the the ra clinic today I am assured that the 'third dose' and 'the booster' are the same thing. They have had a lot of patients phoning them in a panic due to the very badly written and misleading letter.
The only thing about this letter that rings true is the timing - it is six months since my second one.

**Ann** Report 19 Oct 2021 19:44

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 19 Oct 2021 19:07

I had heard of the third jab because my cousin who has blood cancer has had a third one. When I said we, too, had already had our booster jabs she explained to me about the third jab not being the booster.

Island

Island Report 19 Oct 2021 19:02

Thanks for that Von.

I had wondered if the 3rd vaccine - for those with 'severely weakened immune system' - was a 'do they know something they aren't telling us' in relation to the thread title.

I'd seen nothing about this until I got the letter - which may not apply to me anyway. Panic selling?
