Not far from here there was an area they called 'bomb alley' where the bombs fell short for the docks in the East End :-0 :-0

Dynamite is nitroglycerin in sorbents (such as powdered shells or clay) and stabilizers. But if old and not stored right, Dynamite 'sweats'. The 'Sweat' on the surface of that Dynamite is pure nitroglycerin, and pure nitroglycerin is extremely easy to set off by accident.

The East End and the Docks had the most bombing in London Plus you can still see bomb damage, albeit small, on the outer of St Pauls.

They've said they will lower it 14 metres so it won't be like 'Hollywood' more of a splash :-0

I wonder if they will take it 3 miles out, that seems to be the usual thing. :-0

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 23 Feb 2024 19:46

You would but I think the problem here was the wiring to the fuse was still intact albeit rather rusty and they couldn't take the chance with 500lb of dynamite :-0 :-0

But you would think with the everyday vibrations of roadworks traffic etc over the years it would have woken up :-0
