Von, Japan seems to be the 'in' place to go as I know of a number of people who have gone or are thinking of going.... everyone seems to be turning there back on the US, I can't think why :-0 ;-) :-D

I've always wanted to go to Japan but couldn't face the long flight:-0. Just wish I could do a 'beam me up Scotty' ;-) :-D

Pleased you had a lovely time <3

Morning Belle :-D <3 and Von :-D <3

Bright here but damp underfoot.

Had coffee with pals this morning then did a big shop at Sainsbs. Could not resist their chocolate traybake - but I slice and freeze it so I can use it whenever anyone comes or when I want a piece myself. I am pleased it does not come sliced because it means I can vary the portions myself. Left to my own devices, I would eat too much cos I like my grub.

Got a couple of minor jobs for son when he pops in after work today - light bulb replacements because he has told me not to climb stepladder myself.

Thinking of picking up my French again at one of the U3A groups so have fired off a message asking them to let me know which group would be best for me considering it is 20 years since I needed to use the language.

Von, did you enjoy your trip?

My younger sis always wanted to visit Japan and got there in the end. She loved it. She tried to get her older child to study Japanese at uni (we have a Japanese school at our local uni here) but she was batting her head against a brick wall as her daughter did history!

Similar to my daughter and grandson. She wanted him to do maths and physics because in 4th form he topped the exam results. Our family (not me though) are mostly maths-heads, but he went his own way and started this year doing Politics and International Relations (similar to my own degree and I did have him every afternoon from the age of 2.5 years).

Gran’s influence, :-D

Von Report 6 Nov 2025 11:32

Belle it is a long flight but we flew out one way and came back another because of the war.

Going out was really interesting as the weather was clear and you could see the mountain ranges in Kazakhstan etc. We flew over Beijing and South Korea then onto Japan.

Coming home was very boring, long dark and cold as we flew over the Artic and down over Scotland ;-) ;-)

Joy we had a lovely time thank you. <3

Von, were you allowed to fly over North Korea or did you have to bypass it :-0

Afternoon Everyone :-D <3 <3

How lovely Von, pleased you enjoyed your break <3

Well I had a bit of a hiccup. You may remember I was sent to the Emergency Day Care and had all sorts of tests and an Xray, ECG and Scan. Unfortunately, I did not say at the time, the scan showed up a 3cm lesion in chest. So at the start of the week I was sent to the MacMillan Centre to find out what was what.

I did tell them what I thought/knew it was, but nevertheless I had to have a mammogram and an ultra sound. I was told years ago it was a cyst, and if it caused no trouble then ignore it. The ultra sound located it, and apparently it can shed cells that showed up on the scan. So I had a needle inserted and drew off the liquid. If it was one colour it was harmless, another colour and it may not. Thankfully it looked like mud and that was okay. I dont know who was more relieved me or Beloved. He dried my eyes and we went home, battered and bruised. :-0 :-0

Anyway onwards and upwards :-D :-D

OMG Maddie...... hopefully this is the end of the chest saga :-0 <3 <3.

I hope you are not still coughing and are now feeling better in yourself <3 <3

Von, isn't it something to behold when flying over the Arctic Circle!

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 6 Nov 2025 13:24

Maddie, so pleased it was nothing sinister. <3

Von

Von Report 6 Nov 2025 13:54

Belle we flew past North Korea but you could see it on the map ;-)

Joy that was the disappointing thing as you couldn’t see anything :-0 :-0 ;-)

I have been to the Artic circle before from Finland and that was magical. :-D :-D

Maddie you poor thing. What a worry. I remember going through similar and I hugged

the Dr when she told me it was ok. <3 <3 <3

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 6 Nov 2025 14:04

Oh, beggar, Von. It was a wonderful sight so it was good you saw it flying from Finland.

We flew that way via Amsterdam to USA west coast but flew back a different route.

I always found it easy, sleepwise, to fly from Oz via the Middle East but the one time I slept for hours on arrival in the UK was the only time we flew anticlockwise via Hawaii, Los Angeles and Houston (where Customs called us out and let us board the plane first - there was a reason and police with guns drawn were involved!). I was what was known as ..... (politely) dog tired!

Afternoon everyone :-) <3

Not a bad day here, still dry and mild.

I've been out for lunch with friends, so we had a good chat :-D

Maddie, Sorry to hear that you had a worrying health scare, but pleased to know you have now been reassured <3

Von
Your visit to Japan and the journey to and from all sound so interesting.
I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves.

Trying to clear some of the recordings, so that I've got room to record more, for when I might fall asleep watching ;-)
