You may remember my Dad’s famous escapades. First thing was when he said ‘please’ when putting in a question on Ask Jeeves (I had to explain that it was a search engine and not really Mr Jeeves). Then he made himself a jacket potato and picked the wrong jar out of the fridge, and ended up putting jam on it instead of Branston’s. I think he’s excelled himself this time. Although Mum’s ashes are in a memorial park in Plymouth, we decided that it would be nice to have a little plaque up at our local crematorium, where her service was held, so that we have somewhere nearby to go and talk to her. Dad’s got all the details now and was telling me that it might be more economical to buy one of their double stones otherwise when his time comes, there won’t be a space next to Mum’s stone. I thought this was a really good idea; you get a double size stone and they engrave Mum’s details at one end, leaving the other end blank. Then Dad said that the 20-year lease on these stones runs from the first time it’s put up, so to get his full 20 years’ value for money shall he get them to put his name on it now?!!!! I said but you’re not dead Dad! And he said no but I could ask them just to put my name on it and leave the dates off. He just couldn’t understand why hubby and I were almost paralysed with laughter! Mandy:) |
