Diana, You did not say how old Gran was, but she sounds a feisty lady. With lots of love and a bit of help she will manage. Kathlyn |

Hi Diana, Not sure I'd be too happy about my nan living by herself and she's only 87. Will she be getting home help? Fiona. x |

My Great Aunt is 89 - I know a few years behind your Gran. She lives alone (has been widowed since 1969!) in a 3 bedroom house . I don't think she would be happy & content anywhere else! It will hopefully make her stronger mentally in her own surrounds. Penny |

Diana, hope your Grandma feels better once she is home, is there room for a bed downstairs if the stairs get too much for her or could you get her a stairlift, they come reconditioned so a bit cheaper sometimes. My old ladies had them installed and they made life so much easier for them. |

They are going to provide a carer for her that stays til 8.30pm and comes in at 7.30am.... my concern is Grandma gets up at 4am and I just have visions of her being back in hospital on the 6th Feb!! I'm praying that she wants to go home to die.... sounds dreadful but she isn't the lady she was last year and I'm scared for her!! xx |

Hi Dianna. Such a difficult situation to be dealing with....and i can understand your worries...but it seems to me that your nan really want's to be back at home where she's probably lived for the biggest part of her life....perhaps you could make it less of a worry by bringing her bed downstaires and maybe a commode to use..so she does'nt have to climb the staires...bless her she sounds such a lovely strong lady for a 102 year old. I know how you feel Dianna,as i at to go threw the same situation last year when my dad passed away...my mum now is in a emi unit, dew to mental illness also..and we as a family at to make that difficult decision......and now mum blames all us for putting her there...but we new we at to do this for her own safety. Hope everything works out for your nan..and she remaines very happy. Gwyn xxxx |
