Following on from Lynda's thread.....I've just moaned that there's been nothing better to watch than BB lately and Dee has said that he/she (sorry Dee!) wishes we could go back a couple of years to when there were quality programmes on tv. What would you like to sit and watch in an evening and have there been any series that you've paricularly enjoyed in the last couple of years? Jeanette x

Ppph yes, that Trial and Retribution was great....watched that one......OH thought it was the Dad, I thought it was the one who went down for it.......but it wasn't either....it was the bro.....what a twist.....look forward to more.... Forgot about Cold Case Files, got that too......I bet the people who did crimes in the past are really worried because of the new DNA technology......thanks for the reminder Diana....

Sally im like you I love all the crime murder programmes too. If there was a murder round here (fingers crossed there isn't) and the police came round doing door to door enquiries they would take one look at my bookcase and arrest me on the spot. Maybe thats why my OH works away so much lol

I am heaving a sigh of relief here Jackie.....I thought I might be a bit of a wierdo being interested in true crime things.... I too had the same thought, if I were ever to be in trouble with the Police, what would they think......banged up immediately without a trial methinks.... I did go so far as to ask a friend who is a policewoman, if she thought it was strange.......and she said it would only be that, if I were actually doing something in that line, and getting ideas from books......no....no fear.....I am too boring.....

Its one thing to watch and read these gruesome things but if faced with something like this in real life I would be sick, I am really squeemish at the sight and smell of blood. You should see me cooking for my family, the smell of raw meat makes me feel sick and have been known to wear a painting mask to block out the smell lol

I'd like to see more quality drama's esp period one's-the BBC when they do them are excellent. Thankgod I have skyplus-National Geographic and the History channels are wonderful-There is always a channel to suit your taste. I personally feel mainstream channels are becoming outdated-full of rubbish, and not just reality TV. I have to admitt a tendancy to 2 soaps though, although this is probably the only thing I watch on TV and the odd Lynda La Plante drama-everything else you can keep. catherine xx

Period drama - loved the recent 'Bleak House'. Jane Austen and Dickens seem to have been made for TV! Documentaries - NOT 'dumbed down' versions - science, current affairs, whatever, don't mind as long as it's well done. Timewatch is sometimes good. History - enjoyed David Starkey's 'Monarchy', again don't mind the subject as long as it's well presented and doesn't insult viewer's intelligence! Nature - BBC's wildlife programming has been superb over the last few years. I also loved Spring and Autumn Watch. I like the occasional 'one-off' play or drama, hasn't been much of that around lately. Good drama series have included 'House of Cards'. Regular series - 'Hustle' is my favourite, hope they can maintain the quality! Quite like 'QI' and 'Lead Balloon' as Jack Dee is such a misery, lol! Liked the early 'Kath & Kim' too.

Hi Sheila,,,,,have got the House of Cards, To Play the King, set.....and Tinker Tailor...John LeCarre... I had forgotten those.... Like the history ones that you do... They have been advertising a new set of dramas on BBC1 at 2 pm......I don't know when it is starting.... I have noticed though, that we tend to watch more of channels 1 - 5 terrestrial......the plays and dramas are class!....

Hiya Jenette.... I like series like Band of Gold or Widows remember that one from the earlie 80's. Sadly we lack comedies like Only Fools. I do enjoy some of the programes like the jungle and X factor but am sick of seeing it all the time. Saturday Evenings used to be great viewing when i was a child.
