Mine was my Great Aunt Eliza she had a fiery temper but would read you all your fave childhood stories was a smashing cook always had a granchild staying with her. She when living with her parents disappeared for 3 days and then came back on the arms of a husband i believe there was uproar.. Happy Memories June ..

ahh my nana , my dads mum hated him but i loved her and when we moved away after dad dying i used to travel on 5 coaches to go up north at the age of 13 and visit every year, she had nothing , but her love was priceless, little stories she told me have come back in my adult life that has made sense whilst doing my tree . i often wonder where i get my nutty streak from and now when i look back at photos i can see lol.

guess it wasnt to hard in our family no one seem to get on and now there all dead i cant ask who me great grandad was lol arnt they selfish

I think now with hindsight we all wish we had paid more attention and then we would know more reguarding our past June xx

Hello June My mum, dad, sister, brother and I spent our holidays every year with my grandparents near Southport in Lancashire. Dad was an only child and we were their only three grandchildren. Needless to say, they couldn't wait for us to arrive. But grandma had two unmarried sisters and an unmarried brother who all lived together next door, so all in all there were five adults waiting to spend time with us. Boy, did we have fun. I remember playing dominoes for hours on end and Uncle Jack taught me the song 'Show me the way to go home, I'm tired and I want to go to bed, I had a little drink... At five years old, I had no idea what it was about, but I remember teaching it to my friends in our garden when I got back home. They were indeed happy and carefree times. Beryl

know what you mean june my other na taught me to smoke hell that was hard to give up she learnt me to crochet to tho, so not all bad lol

My Great Uncle Arthur was the caretaker of a large office block in London. I think it may have been in Islington, but I'm not sure. We used to visit at weekends when there was only him and Auntie there (they had a flat there) and we had the run of the place. I remember there being an enormous highly polished conference table and we kids used to 'skate' on it in our socks. There were big old fashioned lifts, with ornate gates that we loved to ride in. A special treat was to go onto the roof and I remember thinking I was on top of the world up there! Well I was only about 10! LOL Sue xx

My grandfather used to toast cheese by the fire and when it was time to go home gave me a 3d bit. I will always remember him Dee xx

He used to save them just for me June, always had one. Just seen that Beryl mentioned dominoes, we used to play that as well. Mum used to be doing his housework for him and he entertained me Dee x

June, that reminds me of the port and lemon my Dad used to give me at Christmas, did I get a shock when I had it in a pub once!! Dad's was 99% lemonade I think :-))

Dee my Grandad used to go once a week to the British Legion and used to bring home a bottle of stout i used to have a little with lots of lemonade called it a smiler and then we played domimoes.. June ..

Port and lemon is one of my fave drinks not that i drink much are you a water sign June ..
