Another deprived child - local village primary school was a nature ramble down the dales every week, often to the 'frog pond' or the violet wood. Secondary school I had to board, and again it was jolly rambles every weekend, come rain, come shine. Either along the cliff path to the local lighthouse, or to the WW2 defence blocks left on the beach, or along a roman road which went through a wood. Really exciting stuff. Jay

I don't think schoold went in so much for trips when I was at school, or if they did, I didn't get to go on them. In the Primary school I went on two, to the Festival of Britain exhibition, and to Windsor (must have gone to the castle but all i remember is a river trip and the fact that my bottle of drink leaked! High school the only trip I went on was to Haringay to see Billy Graham the American Evangelist. Sunday school we used to have an outing every year, always as far as I remember to Lyndhurst in the New forest. Ann Glos
