I take that you are a couple of years up, on me then...... There was, in what is now Tower Hamlets, a '' Modern'' estate going up at that time.........they had a Sectioned house showing improvements, like lagging in the roof and central heating thingies. running water..even a bathroom......... Shame, it looked good, it has now been bulldozed for yet more improvements.........still thats progress I guess...... Bob

Hi Bob Yes I went with School. we went on the train from Manchester but got off at Wimbledon then went on the tube to the exhibition Then we went on a boat ride past the Houses of Parliament and later went on a coach ride round the famous sites in London We had a meal on the train coming back and the sweet was ice cream with chocolate sauce which I'd never had before I think the cost of the trip was about £1-10 shilling It wouldn't buy the Icecream with Chocolate sauce now Bren Bren

So, I was not dreaming about the steam engine Britannia, thanks Peter. I also recall the racing bike of Reg Harris who had recently won the world championship, weighing just ounces. But what about the ride on the ROTOR, was that not magic? Derek in France

Think you should have started this thread earlier. Most of the oldies appear to be tucked up in bed, or don't want to admit their age. I remember it. I was eleven but parents couldn't afford to take family to it. My sister was probably to young anyway at six years old. I saw a picture of the skylon thingy on TV yesterday and also wondered how they managed to get it to stay upright. Guess it was quite a thrilling adventure trip for a youngster. Linda
