General Chat

I have been a gr member for about four years now & enjoyed keeping in touch with peaple & been very helpfull to my family tree search. But like EM, iam not posting message on the board like i did. How do you feel about the general board of late? Ann.

Heather yours is 9/6/2003 Think the general board has changed but thats like all things in life.

About two years, I spent a few weeks as an unpaid member while I gave myself time to figure out what this site was like and whether becoming a paid member was going to be of value. I got a brilliant reply to my first trying to find message and that has helped me with one of my lines, I only do a little on my tree from time to time - Michelle

Only since end Sept 2005 Ann...with 4 month break at beginning of last year....so not as long as you.... When I get time, I pop on the boards and find interesting threads to post on, and if sometimes it seems too upsetting, I take myself off.....but at one time I did find it addictive, and spent nearly all day on here......weaned myself off now..... I also do research on my family tree....on and off...

Ann I have been a member since Nov 2002. I dont get involved in a lot of the silly rows that go on sometimes. You can see how some start.I think some people get too involved or too personnel (sp) I think the site is what you make it. I have had some great help/advice from people. Anything from finding my rellies to how to get rid of mice! Great site, and mostly great people :)) Marion

Had to look it up - March 2004 - did not start posting on General Board until August time last year - I was too nervous - lol. But had lots of help on Records board which made me realise how great the folks were on here. Do not like the arguments but that is human nature but discussion is good - and there is a difference. I will renew in May and hope not too many of you guys go. Mary in Spain xx

Hello Ann:o) Well we moved to sarf wales Dec 2002, 4 yrs ago last Dec and l was a member before that. l don't think we had to pay originally. So approx 4 and abit yrs, but about 4 yrs when l started to pay. l can remember sitting in the kitchen/diner here with me puter in the corner (l used to make so much mess on the table!! lol), chatting away to Sue in Mansfield,Shelli,Colin,Ann in Glouc,She,Max, George(female),The Ray and posting on Poets Pot, ohhhh gawd loads of peeps, so much fun and no its not the same, but l am enjoying it again and will be subscribing to Ancestry very soon to re-start my family history. This site is so unique, look at the friendships that have come from it, the help, the fun.!! Where else have you seen A Gaynor Bear travel all over Britain to raise money for such a brilliant cause. Where else have you seen such wonderful people helping with that cause and the amazing honesty and bravery from the lady who Gaynor Bear was named after - ohhh and so many simular situations - l'm waffling sorry and l'm getting sentimental. None of this would have been possible without the General Board Anyway l'm pleased to be back:o)) jude sarf wales :o) xx

I originally joined March 2003 (think it was march), took a break last year of two months and re registered.So im an oldie lol

I cant remember was, absent for about 12 months but I ended up with 2 a/c numbers but they have now deleted one but I dont know if it was the first or second Linda

3 July 2003 Haven't been to any meets.......yet, but always enoy joining in with the boards. Not with troublesome threads though,life's too short for aggravations,can't be bothered! I like debates but wouldn't like to have a fallout with anyone,especially when we don't 'know' the reader! Rather have fun,help some body and bring a bit of happiness. Too many horrible things happening in the world.This should be a friendly place for all. Mau xxx

I joined as a non-paying member a couple of months after it started. When I became a paying member I took my tree off, deleted that account and started again with a much smaller tree, for reason obvious to long term members. Paid up member since August 2003, I think. Gwynne
