people who say snow is pitching. Pitch is black stuff, snow is white. I say the snow is laying NOT pitching. From a confused, very confused, Trish.

To pitch is also 'to fall' - as in 'pitching forward' etc. - so guess that's where it comes from! I got laughed at once for saying it was 'pouring with snow' - so what else does it do?? Mags xx

Esta, I married a Bristolian and am still trying to get him to talk proper like what I do after 20 years!!! Didn't understand a word of what his parents were saying for a good few months, even when they just said hello. It was something like 'howzbe'. LOL

Never heard pitching down.... we usually say 'pelting down' or 'belting down' ....written down , that sounds even sillier! LOL Christine

Trish Something my Dad used to say when one of us was having a temper tantrum - 'There she goes pitching a fit again.' Also as in Rounders - Man who throws the ball is called 'The Pitcher' Joy
