Dorothy - I think the key in your reply is that it is Charities that hire the theatre - We as a group don't have charity status - so I am not sure how things would stand. I know that Diana is licenced - perhaps it may be sufficient if she is there - which she may be. I will contact the landlady again - best from the horse's mouth I think! Nobody is officially allowed to hold any raffle without holding a licence, not just in licensed premises. We could maybe have some sort of fine system, i think that would be OK. But we would have to check first. Ann Glos

Not being a killjoy here - I support Pink's fund as much as the next person BUT - when I went to the pub to check with the landlady about us having a meet there and she asked what it was all about - I explained it as being members of a genealogical site meeting, chatting, having a drink and a bit of a laugh. If that is going to change - then I would need to go and talk to her again. We can't just 'do' things - as Ann has said - we would need to look at the implications of any restrictions in their licensing laws - and also those governing charity collections - I believe you have to be licenced personally to be able to collect for charity. (??) Magsxx
