Guinevere Report 7 Feb 2005 07:54

Hi Gwyn, I shall be there. I have 2 films on order - 1851 Monmouth Town and 1841 the area around Berry Hill in the Forest of Dean. I'm hoping they will be there. If not, there is another film I can look at that is on permanent loan there - parts of Salop census of 1841. Gwynne

Morning Mags It's help yourself here, - but there's a warm welcome. Gwynne I have family from Forest of Dean too. Trouble is that they lived on a hill in Gloucestershire but their nearest church was just down the hill, .... in Herefordshire. I'm forever county-hopping trying to track them!.

Hi Gwyn, I know what you mean about the F o D. I have one buried in Christchurch, Glocs who was living in Monmouth Town. Mine hopped over the border all the time. Are the above districts any good for you? Gwynne

Guinevere Report 7 Feb 2005 08:14

Sorry, Mags. *picks her up and dusts her down* The local LDS has a weird and wonderful collection of stuff on permanent loan. When they first opened they used to keep every film they ordered in until space ran out. Most of them are no use for me, sadly. Gwynne

That sounds a good idea Gwyn! I have given up on my dad's side - Jacksons in Birmingham? HAHAHA Husbands paternal line back to 1635 - so that'll do! My maternal line - the one in Shropshire - not too bad but patchy. Husband's maternal line - Smiths and Prices (in Chester) - another bout of hysterical laughter!!

Gwyn in Kent Report 7 Feb 2005 08:28

Don't give up on them Mags. I had JONES' who moved from Herefordshire to the South Wales valleys, -(as if there weren't enough there already!) ...and I found them, right up to living descendants so now I believe anything is possible after that. Gwyn
