Me too Gwynne It's a lovely sunny day here so maybe I'll get the washing dried outside. *washes cup, as instructed by Gwynne* See you all later, hopefully. Gwyn |

Older people are great aren't they? Finding an article on the Times site last year sparked Mum off on alot of memories. I love her little snippets like ' my grandmother was a little lady and she had auburn hair'. We sometimes find out about the men from service records, but not so often info. about the womenfolk. |

I shall certainly keep trying Gwyn. I take a notebook with me now every time we go to visit Phil's mum (aged 92 next month) - I was only saying to someone the other day that I must get the notes sorted - there may not be many more occasions when I can ask questions! She is a mine of information - as soon as I get the book out - she's off! LOL You sometimes hear the same thing over and over again - but generally it's the details like where people lived (house names etc. and family stories) that flesh things out for me - I love it. Must slurp this tea quick - daughter has just telephoned - she is on her way to pick me up to go shopping - and I haven't showered yet. |

Don't give up on them Mags. I had JONES' who moved from Herefordshire to the South Wales valleys, -(as if there weren't enough there already!) ...and I found them, right up to living descendants so now I believe anything is possible after that. Gwyn |

That sounds a good idea Gwyn! I have given up on my dad's side - Jacksons in Birmingham? HAHAHA Husbands paternal line back to 1635 - so that'll do! My maternal line - the one in Shropshire - not too bad but patchy. Husband's maternal line - Smiths and Prices (in Chester) - another bout of hysterical laughter!! |

Sorry, Mags. *picks her up and dusts her down* The local LDS has a weird and wonderful collection of stuff on permanent loan. When they first opened they used to keep every film they ordered in until space ran out. Most of them are no use for me, sadly. Gwynne |

Hi Gwyn, I know what you mean about the F o D. I have one buried in Christchurch, Glocs who was living in Monmouth Town. Mine hopped over the border all the time. Are the above districts any good for you? Gwynne |

Morning Mags It's help yourself here, - but there's a warm welcome. Gwynne I have family from Forest of Dean too. Trouble is that they lived on a hill in Gloucestershire but their nearest church was just down the hill, .... in Herefordshire. I'm forever county-hopping trying to track them!. |

Hi Gwyn, I shall be there. I have 2 films on order - 1851 Monmouth Town and 1841 the area around Berry Hill in the Forest of Dean. I'm hoping they will be there. If not, there is another film I can look at that is on permanent loan there - parts of Salop census of 1841. Gwynne |
