My husband gave me two lovely bunches of roses tonight! It was a lovely surprise and I was thrilled. Mind you he did spoil it somewhat by saying "Aren`t you going to ask me what I have done!" Frances

He works hard to give her all he thinks she wants But it tears her apart ‘cause nothing’s for her heart He pulls in late to wake her up with a kiss goodnight If he could only read her mind, she’d say… [CHORUS] Buy me a rose, call me from work Open a door for me, what would it hurt Show me you love me by the look in your eyes These are the little things I need the most in my life Now the days have grown to years of feelin’ all alone As she sits and wonders if all she’s doin’ is wrong ‘Cause lately she’d try anything just to turn his head Would it make a difference if she said, if she said… [CHORUS] [BRIDGE] And the more that he lives the less that he tries To show her the love that he holds inside And the more that she gives the more that he sees This is the story of you…and me So I bought you a rose on the way home from work To open the door to a heart that I hurt And I hope you notice this look in my eyes ‘Cause I’m gonna make things right for the rest of your life And I’m gonna hold you tonight, tonight Do all those little things for the rest of your life

The first wedding anniversary is flowers and fruit, so I spent months before our first anniversary going on about how lovely it would be to get flowers etc. Husband just grunted. I forgot all about it. On the morning of our anniversary I answered the doorbell - all I could see through the front door glass was a HUGE bouquet of flowers. I was amazed! I thought my wonderful mother-in-law had really gone to town. I took the flowers and brought them into the living room, and shouted up to my husband "someone's sent us some fantastic flowers". then I read the note - which was in his handwriting, which meant that he had actually GONE INTO THE FLORISTS TO WRITE IT AND ORDER THE FLOWERS, instead of phoning up. I was absolutely thrilled and bowled over, till husband spoilt it all by saying "Make the most of it, I won't do it again". Though he has bought me flowers and plants since, including two lovely bouquets when our sons were born, but I shall never forget the surprise I got that morning! nell

Do you think Nell, That men probably think it`s `sissy` to go into a florists to buy flowers. Does it show that they have feelings after all. Baz

Baz re- the idea of florists as sissy My cousin Mary said to her husband once that it would be nice if he bought her flowers. He was a cricket/rugby player and thought ballet was for poofters. He looked at her aghast and said "what! go into a florists! me! I'm a man!" nell
