I have a marriage certificate for my 4times Grandfather John Moore, it states his father was also John Moore and that he is a soldier. The marriage took place in Denver Norfolk. Any suggestions as to how I can follow up on this ? Was there a army presence in Norfolk at this time ? (1841 )

Any help appreciated.

Is this your John? Both said to be OTP - Of this Parish - but doesn't mean they were born there. Have you followed them in census to see where born?

This John would have been old enough to be the Father but doesn't mean he is the right one

EDIT - see 1851 census posted below - John (junior) born - ? where, a British subject

You can google which Regiments were in Norfolk around the right time

In case parents ever living with him -

The 1851 census shows John to not know where he was born, just states under Where Born - Unknown British subject which may well fit with his Father being in the Army. It would suggest a birth overseas perhaps
