The Welsh abandoned it obviously :-D

Now a ghost town. It's just outside Leonora. Herbert Hoover (USA President) was once a Mine Manager there

I noticed that there are quite a lot of abandoned towns. Is this because they were mostly mining towns once upon a time?

Yes, Jem. Google Cossack.

Not Just WA but the whole of Australia is replete with them. On my travels, I've always found it sad that sometimes the only place remaining is the cemetery.

Also, the lonely graves that you encounter.

A harsh country for the pioneers :-(

That was interesting Allan. Yes, something very sad about abandoned places and cemeteries.

Leeming

I would wander around the Cemeteries, and nearly weep at the young age of most of the people: either disease or mining accident :-(

For me, driving round the country areas in an air-conditioned car, no problems, but for those early pioneers once they arrived somewhere they had to stay.

We have it so easy these days

Yes that's true!

I'm the same.
I saw a grave in a Pembrokeshire Church, where it seems as though every child of the family had been buried, about 9 of them and their mother.
The same on my tree. I get quite upset at times.

Manypeaks

Another great name :-)
