It means he wasn't born in Nottinghamshire.Which may explain why I can't find a marriage for him and Lucy.It's possible that Rachels middle name was Lucy's maiden name.

There won't be a marriage certificate for Ann and william as it was before registration began(1837).You can find the marriage if you go to the parish church in Bingham BUT it won't have their father's names on as it wasn't required.

I didn't have them on the 1871 census, but i know rachel was born 1850, was there any other siblings on the census

thanks for that info its been a great help, i know the bp for ann /williams children are correct as i'm tracing mary ann b 1837.
Will get a cert for there marriage was there any ref no so i can order it it will at least give me parents name hopefully.

They may have had more children but those are the only one's I can find on my nottingham baptism disc.
There aren't any other Ann Footits that fit the year of birth that you put.

also on 1871 cencus william gough 61 (shopkeeper) ann gough 60 (wash woman)and daughter rachel woodhouse gough age 20(???? maker) cant make out word

I came across ann footit by accident on another site by someone requesting info but as it was a old thread i pm but no reply.
I know she married william gough but no idea about ann's birth or marriage, according to 1841 census first child alfred age 8.
