Thank you Choccy for the 1911 info, that's exactly the family members I found in 1901 census and you have found them at Brunel Street in 1911 so I can be sure they are the right Phillips.
I really appreciate your help, now I can move on.

Need help again
I know have a copy of the marriage cert of William Phillips and Ellen Smith on April 7th 1912, St Lukes Church, Victoria Docks, West Ham.
William Phillips aged 23, living at 30 Brunel Street (not sure about Brunel) William's father was Henry or Harry Phillips, both Labourer's.
Ellen Smith aged 21 of 26 Scott Street and her father was William John Smith also a Labourer.
These ages are a bit off !! So hoping to find either of these two with their families on the 1911 census.
Thanks

James birth cert will only confirm his parents names .

The marriage cert will give their ages on marriage and fathers names ,if known

Williams family census info has already been posted

Nicola Report 29 Apr 2017 21:33

James Phillips marriage cert arrived, I now know James father William Phillips was deceased in 1939 and the witnesses at the marriage was James sister Alice and his other deceased sister Ellen's husband, William J Baker(Baber on cert)
I can't find any info on James Phillips parents William J Phillips born 1884 and Ellen Smith born 1893, they were married in June 1912, West Ham.
Thinking that both James's parents (William J Phillips and Ellen Phillips nee Smith) were both deceased by 1939?? because when James's married aged 17 in 1939, he was living with sibling Alice and Brother in Law William J Baker(Baber)
Whats my best and cheapest option??
Thinking I should go straight to ordering James's parents (William J Phillips & Ellen Smith marriage cert)?? or should I get James birth cert?

Nicola Report 22 Apr 2017 21:42

I have found a marriage of William Phillips and Ellen Smith in 1912, West Ham. I have found 4 children from this marriage, Ellen born 1912(died 1937 Ellen Baker) Alice born 1919 living with sister Ellen's husband (William Baker) in 1939, Alice married Walter Sorenson in 1947. Twins Doris and James Phillips born 1921, West Ham. Doris died in 1921 and James was married to Jessie Graham in 1939. The only William (J) Phillips born 1884 that safc and I have found was single and living with his mother Ellen in 1939???
Can anyone shed any light on the marriage of William Phillips and Ellen Smith 1912, West Ham?? and their children Ellen, Alice, Doris and James between 1912 and 1939? Have to wait till monday now for son James marriage cert, should have arrived today :-(

Found parents of James Phillips, household look up please for 1939 register: William J Phillips born 1884 and Ellen Phillips at West Ham C B Essex. When I try and find Ellen's birth by searching Ellen Phillips with household member William J Phillips in West Ham, I can't find her?

K Report 16 Apr 2017 06:00

Possibly because there was a correction in pencil on the original - in this case the image is 24 May 1861 but above a correction in pencil to 24/5/1867

The transcribers seem to have been stuck on which year to use
