THANKYOU everyone yes I knew about the bigamy and I am indeed Audrey's daughter. I am in contact with the family of Irene's marriage to Fred peters ,I just would like to know about what happened to Leslie on his return to Australia .thankyou it was wonderful to look at the service records and see the correspondence about the bigamy because my peters cousin knew very little about that either. Although I have been doing research on and off for a few years I am still not too clued up on what to do .so THANKYOU all again

Ancestry only lists selected ER years. The names are listed alphabetically meaning that anyone with a different surname living at the same address is very difficult to find

Victoria has an ‘Ask a librarian’ service.
http://www.slv.vic.gov.au/services/ask-librarian

If you were to contact them, they *might* be able to tell you the names of other eligible residents in the missing years.

As Leslie and Alice married in 1915, any child born within a year would reach the age of majority 1935/1936. Consequently ask them to back-track a couple of years from the 1937 address as shown on Ancestry, then forward until they moved and so on.

1937 - 5 Higginbotham St, Coburg, Bouke
1942-1954 30 Balloan St, Coburg, Wills
1963 – Midnight Ave & Spring St, Cockatoo, Pakenham, McMillan
1972 – 49 Rsl Centre, Dandenong Rd, Cheltenham East 3192
1977 – (Alice) 2/162 Waterdale Rd, Ivan 3079, Batman

If the last 2 addresses turn out to be residential/care homes, they won’t be a lot of help! If you’re very lucky, their probable child Iris Marion might be listed under her married name.

A very big THANKYOU to all who responded to my posting . You all are truly wonderful people ,I wish I had a little bit. Of all your knowledge.
I have managed to have a look at Leslie's service records and am amazed at the info on them . I have just looked at the "trove" .thankyou all so much .my next step is to purchase Leslie s death certificate which I presume I get from national archives in Australia. If I join Ancestry can I do all this on there .? I am hoping eventually to 'find' living relatives in Australia .
Regards to all

Don't ever buy certs through Ancestry...it's a rip-off.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 15 Apr 2014 17:38

Alter your title - go to your opening post and press 'edit' - to include 'Australia'. Hopefully that will attract members who are used to purchasing Australian BMD.

You ought to be able to purchase and download an uncertified DC from
https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/index-search?action=getHistIdxSearchCriteria

If that doesn't work, use the 'Ask the Librarian' service for advice.

Yes - edit the opening post (your first one) That will allow you to alter the title.
Unless you want to add a note to the opening post about tracing the descendants, don't change anything in the text box.
