Detective posted earlier a probable marriage of Alfred James Barber to Mary Ann Richards and the birth of a son Alfred James Barber in 1913 with mmn Richards.

The birth in 1929 of an Alfred James Barber shows mmn as Brett.

Alfred Snr and Emma are together by this time so another birth entirely surely.

Plus the Eric you mention in your opening post -
Eric T Barber/LLoyd is born 1929 (Barber mmn Dobbins) and dies 1929

Ah - no wonder there wasn't a correct 1929 birth reg ;-)

This is how the known children are listed on the index. You have already stated that they are deceased

Births Jun 1927
Barber Violet J mmn Dobbins Greenwich 1d 1295
Lloyd Violet J mmn Dobbins Greenwich 1d 1295

Births Jun 1929
Barber Eric T mmn Dobbins Greenwich 1d 1218
Lloyd Eric T mmn Dobbins Greenwich 1d 1218

Compare the way those are listed with that for Alfred J Barber
Births Mar 1929
Barber Alfred J mmn Brett Greenwich

1- his entry isn't double entered under Lloyd, or anything else for that matter.
2 - his mothers maiden name is different
3 - Alfred could have been born any time between late Nov 1928 & late Mar 1929
4 - Eric could have been born anytime mid to late Mar 1929- late Jun 1929.
The dates don't 'add up'.

Its quite possible that the cremation entry posted earlier is incorrect, but it does match up with the death index for Alfred J Barber born 1913, Alfred James Barber's son with Mary Ann Richards

Re the Invasion zone post - This is the CWGC entry for the man
BARBER, WILLIAM ANDREW

Rank: Private
Service No: 2048
Date of Death: 03/11/1914
Regiment/Service: Lancashire Fusiliers 2nd Bn.
Grave Reference: II. F. 10.
Cemetery: NAVES COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION

Additional Information:
Son of Mrs. Elizabeth Sarah Barber, of 33, Hosier St., Church St., Deptford, London.
..........

So obviously a Barber family member, but not a child of Emma and Alfred, nor of Mary Ann Richards and Alfred. They married in 1910.

It might help us to know which line you are following. For instance, have you already researched Emma Elizabeth's children with Mr Lloyd? Or is Emma, from your point of view, a marry-in to the Lloyds?

Lucy Report 10 Nov 2015 21:56

The children Emma Elizabeth had with Alfred James Barber both died young so no offspring. I am focussing on the Lloyd side as Ellen could have had a family.
Arthur, Ethel and Emma Lloyd have now come to light with the informagion Rose has posted on here :-)
