There are several William John Eade's of approximately the right age, living in London and area, on the 1911 Census :-(

who was Mary E Eade??

The Eade Family Tree on ancestry, owner davidbanks06

has her as the eldest child of Arthur Eade and Delphine Stark

He shows her as born 1891 in London, but with no further information.

He seems to be descended from Arthur Frank Eade

(below taken from google search, past queries)

Chris :)

Birth 1900. 8 Sunbury Buildings, Bethnal Green
May Delphine Emily
Father: Arthur Eade, Police Constable
Mother: Delphine Stark
Her mother Delphine was pregnant with May when she married Arthur Eade.

Marriage 1925:
May Delphine Emile Eade to William Val Miles in the parish of Plumpstead, Kent.
Fathers name and surname William John Eade (deceased) Florist.????

She gave birth to Arthur Stark. Born on 28th January 1897 at Clapham Maternity. On his birth certificate she is listed as G.D stark (Georgina Delphine Stark) so looks like she might have changed her name later to Delphine. There is no father listed on Arthurs birth certificate but she later married my Grandfather whoose name was also Arthur and she became Delphine Georgina Eade.

Delphine Georgina Starks residence in 1897. 71 Cottage Grove, Clapham, London, ladies maid.

Residence at time of marriage 1900, 1 Hamburgh Place, High Street, Sydenham. It looks like she lived with Alice E Piggott and her husband Henry Piggott who also lived at this address (as per 1901 census). Alice E Piggott was a wet nurse. Listed at Witness at Delphines marriage. Also witness was D Causley? I have looked into this and it looks like part of a church building where illigitemate mothers went.

(just to add, Alice also at 1 Hamburgh Place 1911, with Tom Starkes age 13, as Thos Sparkes age 3, 1901)

May was born 7/5/1900 at 8 Sunbury Building ?I have just noticed that Arthur Eade is listed as her father on the birth certificate but it is actually the marriage certificate where William John Eade (deceased)

Arthur Frank the son of Georgina Delphine Stark a ladies maid of Clapham was born 28/1/1897. No father is named on the certificate. Address 71 Cottage Grove, Clapham.

Thanks

Just my thoughts:

If the marriage certificate is the only form where the names William John appear, this sounds more like the Registrar's error. Or whoever copied from his original notes. Sometimes the names from the entry above or below are copied by mistake. Lack of concentration..

If the father's name on May's birth certificate is Arthur, then it's very unlikely that May would have been told that her real father was some other man. Even if it were true.
