I’m having problems with this

George Edgar Tromans
Military Year: 1914-1920
Rank: Private
Medal Awarded: British War Medal and Victory Medal
Regiment or Corps: Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment)
Regimental Number: GS/133315
Previous Units: 46. R. Fus. Pte. GS/133315

George Edgar Tromans
Year: 1918 & 1919
Ward or Division/Constituency: Aston
Street address: 11 Wainwright st
Residence Place: Birmingham
46585 Pte 16 T.W Bn Worcs

Why doesn’t the service number match? I’ve gone back to both medal card images for George E(dgar) Tromans – neither mention other than the Royal Fusliers.

Donald WHICH ties in with what you know? the one born 1897 or one you think was born 1881?

if it IS the one born 1897 then as said children to that marriage can be found on freebmd.org.uk . If you want help tracing them forward please confirm that you think this is the right person.

George Edwin Troman born 1897, Aston Birmingham. This is the person I am researching. Thanks for the confirmation on that. Also the confirmation of his WW1 army service. I am now in the process of trying to trace his marriage & children. Thanks for the info on that. The birth registration for George is Aston district December qtr. ref 6d 374. He married Violet E Daniels in 1920 December qtr. ref. 6d 945. Thanks for the tip about a possible gt. granddaughter. I will follow that up.

Thank you all for you contributions. It has turned out that George was born in 1897 in Aston Birmingham He did in fact enlist in the Royal Fusiliers in 1917 & saw service on the Eastern Front for the final months of WW2. He returned to the UK, married & was the father of 5 children. Thanks to the help I have received, I am hoping to contact a great granddaughter. What is not clear at the moment, is how the diary, came to be in the possession of my friends' father as there is no clear reason for it.
