Hi Shirley, I now have Frederick's son marrying Maria Quigley in 1963 . His name was spelt Goddin.

I too did not find his children on previous searches I sometimes miss what is within full view!! So far can't get anywhere with Diana B. I wonder if B stands for Beresford?

Many thanks for your help it is much appreciated.

Thanks Shirley John Alexander Herbert had a houseful of women. In 1911

I have one possible child and one definite

Diana B Godden born 1937. Mother Herbert. Possible

John D U. Godden born 1940 South Eastern District Surrey mother Herbert.
In the electoral rolls he is living at Greenacres Haroldsea Drive the same address for Frederick in 1939 and also recorded as Fredericks address at death. With John D Underwood Godden is Anthony Lionel Godden born 1967 Horsham mother Quigley.
That's all I have at present. I still know very little about Fredericks acting career which may have been short and so far haven't found him in 1911 or 1901.

Thankyou all.Believe it or not Shirley I have spent the last hour looking for Rose Beresford Godden nee Herbert in 1939 as you say she wasn't with Frederick who was with his parents and a commercial traveller not acting. Maybe he was resting!!
I haven't had any luck finding children of the marriage yet

Frederick had brothers but not Albert. He was one of10.

I will try the Fulham and Hamersmith historical society thankyou.

I can't find him in 1901 or 1911 he may have been in Southampton where his parents were at that time.

Many thanks again Joan

Hi Jon.

I have no personal knowledge, but just wondering what you are trying to discover? For general info. a google search is generally best, but success depends on what terms you use, obviously!

Just had a play around, and googling this throws up some interesting stuff:
'theatre history london 1930's'

I guess you might ask advice from an organisation like this maybe?

Socirty for theatre research
http://www.str.org.uk/

Good luck!
