Goodness gracious me, I don't know what got into me yesterday, talk about stupid - I was putting the surname and forename the wrong way round. Thank you all for taking your valuable time to help me and sorry for being a pain.

Thanks Greyghost but that link gives me nothing either so I think there is a problem specific to me.

greyghost

greyghost Report 11 Feb 2017 19:37

Not finding a problem - infact there were 7 entries for Elizabeth Porter marriage when not specifying dates. Keep practising !!

Meantimes, this should get you straight through
http://www.freereg.org.uk/search_queries/589f66ce33045b9e0eb84277

There is also the marriage of Elizabeth (probably the one bap.1695 the daughter of Thomas posted above) in 1716.

Family search is a free to use site - https://familysearch.org - click on here to start exploring.

If you click on the url posted by malyon you will see where she has got the information from. There is similar information on Ancestry.

However I ask again, why do you think that her Father is Joseph? safc posted a baptism of an Elizabeth in Breadsall 1695, Father Thomas (click on her url for that). Do you have some specific information? How do you know she was born 1696.

Trees, particularly on Ancestry, have a habit of being copied one from the other and often have the wrong information to start with. It's not uncommon to find granny born after grandson etc. Be careful and don't jump just because you think something fits !!
It's very difficult to be sure when you are going back that far.

Oh my goodness Malyon and greyghost, that is absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much.
Is familysearch a free site or do you have to be a member?
