I am nudging this thread as coincidentally Eileen’s family have chosen Remember Me for the card they designed for her.

I hope the memories invoked by the verses on here will not be too painful for many of you but will remind us of so many old friends sadly no longer with us.

Kandj, we had the poem you quoted printed on the Order of Service for my brother last year. His service, which he more or less arranged himself, was based around the idea of smiles. I found it a comfort. We also had the following printed

A memory is a keepsake of time that lives forever in the heart

Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve.
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

I hope those that are grieving are comforted by all the thoughts and words on this thread

Liz,
Thank you for bringing up the Remember Me poem.

Memories.. is another poem to comfort the grieving.

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one
I'd like to leave an after glow of smiles when life is done,
I'd like to leave an echo, whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright
and sunny days.

I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before
the sun. Of happy memories that I leave when
life is done.

Read at the funeral of my nephew this Monday. <3

Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road,
to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay...
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey's quicker,
For some the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We'll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the lord

I am sorry for your loss, Linda.

There are some lovely verses in this thread that have been added by our friends.

As well as all the famous people and dear friends from gr leaving us this year, I have lost neighbours, and relatives and learned of some with life limiting health problems, who will probably not see another Christmas. It's heartbreaking
