Emma I don't think they make them like Sharron either. Hope you can get some rest Sharron and that fred continues to get better.

Sharron Report 3 Apr 2014 20:27

The doctor rang this morning to see if he needed to come but Fred was quite perky so I said not.

Fred went to the café but didn't eat much. A bit of steak and a few chips, how the other half lives eh, but came home to bed. He was up when the carers came and was off up the garden for reasons best known to himself. It is the first time they have had to catch him. He is not really with us tonight, bit confused.

The doctor says his sodium is a bit low but it could be the result of this urinary infection because it is not due to him drinking too much fluid.

I am just sitting it out at the moment because he has a week's worth of antbiotics and has only yet taken four.

H also hasn't been for four days so his mate got a few tinned prunes into him. He is a much more attentive carer than I could ever be and he earns my carers allowance for me!

Ann I agree and Sharron knows what great admiration
we have for her, whether she likes us saying it or not :-)

Sharron Report 3 Apr 2014 20:49

I was telling the doctor this morning that I wondered if he had had two simultaneous infections.

The antibiotics last time may not have been taken for long enough to knock this one off as well.

There is no doubting he is a tough old bugger!

Sharron I have said it before I know, but I do think you are amazing taking care of your dad so well. I can only imagine how tiring it is for you. I hope Fred is soon back to his normal self and that you can have some rest. I really have to ask what sort of sausages Fred eats as I think I could do with some lol. Take care xx

Sharron Report 4 Apr 2014 08:12

I don't know.

This is one of the aspects of his life from which I am excluded. One of the things he gets up to with his partner in crime. I would not be welcome on the bus there nor in the café.

He is up again this morning but is tired.

I just have to hang on to the knowledge that anti-biotics take time to kick in.

Sharron

Sharron Report 4 Apr 2014 21:34

I do hope the anti-biotics kick in soon because he has been hard work today.

It does make me realize how easy I have had it up to now.

He doesn't know if he's having a poop or a haircut and I think he saw a seagull on the dresser.

If I am still sane by Tuesday when they do another blood test for his sodium levels I will be very surprised.

Sharron

Sharron Report 5 Apr 2014 14:57

He is very sleepy today which I am hoping is part of the healing process although the carers think he may have had another stroke.

His mate is pushing him round the village today. It seems important to keep him as interested as possible.

I am rather hoping that when the prunes shift the eight days worth he might perk up a bit too!

All best wishes to Fred and yourself.

A worrying time, but I hope he will soon feel alot better.

You have a good ally there in Fred's mate, who seems as keen as you are to keep things as normal as possible.

I think he might be a little bit more alert today but maybe I am fooling myself.

Anyway, I am tipping prune juice into him and he is eating dried apricots.

Probably I should be giving him laxatives but we are still trying everything else first.

Sharron Report 5 Apr 2014 19:51

He is starting to look better but I have had to get on to the out of hours doctor because the carers noticed there was nothing in his leg bag.

Just waiting for them to ring back.

Is there no combination he will not try?

Hoping the night is not too fraught for you all and everyone gets some rest.
