JoyBoroAngel Report 9 Apr 2014 18:05

if I thought somebody got into my home
I would first wake the butler and tell him to phone the police
while I bashed them over the head with the iron or a golf club

and we have to bear in mind those bullets
where of a type aimed to kill not maim
a special type not the norm
any one of those bullets would of killed he or an intruder
so why fire 4 :-( :-(

lets face it giving guns to a nutcase is just not a good idea

As you're leaning over the garden fence, make sure a legless man doesn't smash it with a cricket bat! ;-)

Good idea! It would save those crusty old judges loads of time and all the effort of dealing with the cases.

Simples.

If only the South African courts had known, that the case was to be aired on GR, they needn't of bothered with the whole thing, could of saved them millions of Rands.

Wonder what trial will be tried next on here? I'll inform the Old Bailey that if they are busy, bung the case on here, expert jury, no need to listen to the whole case, just bring the accused in, tell us a few facts, and GR will decide, millions saved !

Did anyone see News Night yesterday? Paxman briefly touched on this case with a correspondant in SA. Only about 10% of the population own guns but violence against women is rife. It's hoped this case raises awareness of the latter and something is done about it.

Thing is, this case is only 'wall to wall' worldwide because of OPs fame. If it had happened pre 2012 few of us would have heard about it so OP might just have unwittingly done his bit for the women of SA.

I agree with Karen.

I think if he intended to kill her it wouldn't have been in his home, putting himself firmly in the frame.

I too think red mist descended & he acted without rational thinking.

I can understand the burglar concept, life is very different in SA in such a situation, its shoot or be shot, it's hard for us to judge. However lots don't add up in this case, lots of whys.

I have no idea what truly happened so I'll leave that to the judges to decide.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 9 Apr 2014 10:07

now the case has been solved - by Karen - I think someone should make contact with that judge :-D

AnnCardiff Report 9 Apr 2014 10:05

you need a gun in South Africa - it's a dangerous place - and I agree with Karen too!!

I'm surprised that they haven't used as a defence the possibility that OP was not fully awake at the time of the shooting. There have been many cases when people have behaved violently when in a state of 'sleepwalking'.
