Try googling Kefir Plant and this may be what you are wanting. I had a small piece of this given to me by a homeopath very many years ago and used it to make yoghurt.

The yoghurt has been in the fridge all night.

It's weird. Looks a bit like sloppy feta or riccotta.

Maybe I could make a leek & potato flan with it :-D

I'll try a natural Greek yoghurt as a starter, because this seems a waste of time (and milk) to me.

:-(

Try making yoghurt in a flask with the starter.

If it comes out horrible it might well be the starter that is at fault.

I now have two big lumps of soft cheese.

I think I'll make a weird lasagna.

:-D

Experiment number three is now underway.

I got some natural Greek yoghurt and used that instead of the starter.

I'm checking it after 6 hours, not 8 as recommended...... I think the longer time made it overdone & lumpy.

:-)

I know you won't care but I have just found a way to make yoghurt in a slow cooker.

It is on a site called 'Little House Living'.

I saw that too Sharron, when I was googling for tips.

I had some of the "cheese" for lunch today, on crackers. Very nice.

So if the yoghurt doesn't work out, I'll use it to make cheese.

Was it in "Life of Brian"......... blessed are the cheesemakers? :-D :-0

Sounds like it.

It doesn't have to be purely a yoghurt maker.

It can be a yoghurt or anything else you might use more of maker
