When I went toTideswell in June we did go to meet Elaine's son and d.i.l. and her daughter at the house. They were very nice people as I expected, and we had a cuppa in her new kitchen and chatted about the messages the family had appreciated on this thread.

There was still so much art and craftwork around the house that Elaine had done and because they knew I like hedgehogs, they gave me a lovely pottery one Elaine had made. It's really lifelike and it sits next to the tv. A lovely memento to have of a lovely person who cared for all creatures, great and small.

I have just messaged Elaine's son on fb because I know he will struggle today especially. I sent a card to say I and friends on gr would be thinking of Elaine today. I will be meeting with the family next month when I visit the area, they want me to see Elaine's new kitchen. She was so looking forward to showing it off but I think she knew she didn't have long because she said as much and I told her not to go anywhere till I had seen it. She laughed and said she would tell the family not to sell the house untll I had seen the changes. So we will be going there and I will be able to meet them all.

Thinking of Elaine's family today.

I think it was the last straw, Shirley.

I have just found out that an old school friend of 56 years died the day after Elaine and his funeral is the same time and day. I hadn't known his illness had progressed so badly that he was suffering so much.

Will be having a quiet time on Wednesday as I think of Elaine and Barry.

Ahh thats sad about Missy . a good age but sadly the connection to Elaine must be a loss all over again

Elaine's son is very low: he and his family had been looking after Missy, Elaine's very elderly dog since Elaine was really poorly a year ago and yesterday Missy had to be put to sleep, at the amazing age of 18. I suppose she was the last link with Elaine and the family had known Missy all her life, so they are feeling the loss all over again.

I am sure Elaine will be glad to have Missy with her again and I hope her son will start to feel better after the funeral next week.

Will be meeting up with him and all the family when we go to the area in June.

I spoke with Elaine's daughter earlier this evening. She said everyone is coping with their loss in their own way and missing Elaine hugely.

Elaine requested no flowers at the funeral at all but donations in lieu to the P.D.S.A.

If anyone would like to send contributions I can forward a lump sum in Elaine's name, as she already has a plaque at Sheffield P.D.S.A. from a time when she donated regularly.

Sorry Liz to hear this sad news.

I pop onto the boards now and then and it is becoming so sad to learn of another of our GR friends leaving us.

My condolences to Elaine's family.
