Just read your post, Sylvia, so tried it one more time, couldn't believe it, got access to "My Threads"!!!

Shhhhhh!

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 28 Feb 2016 21:17

:-D :-D

I THINK it means you can try it only once, and then it doesn't work after that. But that doesn't make any sense at all!

I must say ........ shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh .................. I've had little trouble getting into My Threads the last 2 days :-)

MargaretM Report 28 Feb 2016 10:37

I try to access "My Threads" daily but no luck.

Yesterday (Saturday) I received the same email from GR that Sylvia received. I'm still trying to decipher this sentence:

"We are sorry but this work around does seem to only work once."

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 28 Feb 2016 00:06

I got an email this morning (Saturday), timed at 8:21 am my time, which means it was sent late afternoon London time. GR staff must be working on the weekend :-)

It was of course about the problems opening My Threads ................

-------
Thank you for your e mail.

We are sorry but this work around does seem to only work once.

Our technical team are still looking into this to try and get a fix asap.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

With kind regards,

-------

Of course, it must be somebody's Law that My Threads has opened first time for me the twice that I have tried today :-D

sooooooooooooo .................. having porridge for breakfast woke up the brain cells, and I realised what one has to do

I have just sat through the Error message (what ............. 30 or is it 60 seconds that feels forever?), changed the 0 to 1 at the end of the URL that appears then

Got Threads Started by You

clicked out of that

Clicked on My Threads once again

wheels spun for about 20 seconds, and ................ bingo

I got My Threads

I don't reckon that is good enough, especially if I have to repeat it every time I want to re-open My Threads

email this morning

-------
Further to your e mailer e mail about the threads.

This problem has now been resolved and will work correctly if you would like to try again.

You need to change the 0 to a 1 at the end of the URL address bar on your threads page.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience that was caused by this problem.

If you need any further assistance please do let me know.

With kind regards,

-------

Tried 3 times, still cannot get into My Threads ....................

so how do I change the URL??

Plus there is also a thread from others who have received this email, pointing out that it does sometimes work for some people, but the URL has to be changed every time as it reverts back to 0

I sometimes wonder what they do all day ... no marketing as no more ads, no more development work as GR ihas become a living internet fossil, just a few dozen e-mails to support, a smattering of RRs to deal with (or not ) ....

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 17 Feb 2016 20:28

I've just seen the following message posted on GR's FB page in response to complaints that people have not received replies fro support

Hi xxxx. Apologies for any delay in answering your email. Our Customer Support team are currently working hard to answer customer emails.

When I say working I only mean 'My threads' not of course 'adv' search' ! Not tried sending messages yet, that was pulling up the error message and sending the message twice.

Andrew Report 12 Feb 2016 15:53

Not working for me.

I did get a response to my email to support asking what wasn't working, but I don't really see the point of telling them what they already know.

As of Fri 12 Feb 2016 the "My Threads" timeout error appears to be fixed. How long it will stay fixed is anybody's guess.

Sylvia you were too late

I have an old free account where I have an old useless family tree, so I get notices there from Genesreunited about subscription offers and other debris

according to the last one I got about this, the offer ended 'tonight' on Tues 9 Feb, I assume at midnight

I hadn't bothered clicking because I wasn't interested ... and oh well! when I look closely at the email now, here is what it says (as now I see what you copied did, Sylvia) -

'This is your last day to snap up 75% off a 1 month Platinum subscription on Genes Reunited. Our offer expires tonight, so don’t waste any time!'

75% off **one month**

who needs it ...
