I requested this info before Lisa deleted the Wager thread on which a lot of effort had been expended.....seems a shame to waste it, although I'm not sure whether it will be appreciated

Army service record of James Robertson.

The record has been located at Defence Archives Centre. The Archives can provide access to these records under the Archives Act 1983.

Action required:

Step 1 ?€“ Go to our online catalogue, RecordSearch, via our website Home page | naa.gov.au and select Login. There is an option to register. You will need to provide a researcher card number when you notify us of your selected option from Step 2.

Step 2 ?€“ Please choose option A or B below and notify us as soon as possible. The access examination process will begin only after payment for a copy OR notification of intention to visit the research centre has been received.

Option A: Purchase a copy

Copies of post-1947 Army records are supplied via email using a secure file transfer.
Copying can take up to 30 days and is done after the access examination process.
To purchase a copy, please complete and return the attached remittance advice with payment to the address on the form or call (03) 9348 5703 to make payment by phone and provide your researcher card number.

Option B: View records in our research centre

There is no charge to view original records in our Victoria Office research centre or take photographs using your own device.
The research centre is located at 99 Shiel Street, North Melbourne - open 10am to 4.30pm Wednesday to Friday, except public holidays. We do not transfer records to other state or territory offices.
If you wish to view the record in our Victoria Office research centre please respond to this email and provide your researcher card number.


About the access examination process

Access to records through the Archives is granted under the provisions of the Archives Act 1983 and all records must be examined prior to public release. Portions of the record that contain sensitive personal information, or information in the Closed Period will not be publicly accessible. The Archives?€™ access policy on military service records for ex-members aged 75 years or younger AND still living is to restrict the quantity of material made publicly accessible. The - possible - record I posted on 6th March at 10.14 shows James travelling ALONE

There is certainly NO marriage on Scotland's People

It is probably also significant that NO mention of a wife is attached to his gravestone....ONLY his parents names are recorded - as you will have seen

If you want a definitive answer, I think that the death cert is your best bet

The son and daughter-in-law (hers is the tree on Ancestry) of Stuart Robert G Robertson are on the ER to 2005. The address is not recorded as having been sold since that date.

I have this information from one of the family but we all seem to have a problem with locating them with dates ect !! as they travelled from Scotland to Australia.
Some of the family just are sure ? And some don’t know nothing at all.
