Well, you just beat me to the 41 so we are even now. (Tee hee!!)

Yes, I do seem to have called you Ginny - I can't imagine why !!

I will amend it.

Did you also notice that on 1841 there are 'possible' Stone relatives
living next door? - They might come in useful later?

i just want to say cheers for all your wonderful searching on sarah stone/symmons/hodder.Yes 1841 census is her household with my symmons(with whom she had no children)I have done all the census work but the mystery is......who was james and georges father??? born 1829 amnd 1831 because he is my grt grt grt grandfather..I know bridport, bradpole and shepton gorge are all significant in this mystery but i cant find any evidence in parish records .i am stumped.Ancestry sent me on a wild goose chase sending me a hint that sarah was from pays de atlantique in gorge france but may be that refers to the history of shepton gorge and the de gorge family. Also i can trace george movin to bristol and sarah until her death in 1902..and the hodders step family livin with the stone family in bristol.I also want to thank cynthis west on puttin me right about message boards....did nt have a clue how they worked..so cheers cynthia...anyway i live in australa now but will be home traling through dorset graveyards in about 3 weeks ...happy hunting

If this is the correct Sarah, it would seem that she was 'unmarried' when she had George and James so you may never know who the father was but at least you now have a little info on Sarah's parents.

Dea x

P.S. - Sometimes, the original parish register for the christening may have a little note by the Vicar, naming the father. - Worth a look.
