Stephen, it would help if you would provide what you find - you've found it, but we have to go looking for it! Just copy the census info.

Do you have the marriage cert for Eliza to confirm the occupation of father as bootmaker

Stephen

Stephen Report 28 Aug 2009 15:15

yes, I do have the MC to confirm this

JaneyCanuck Report 28 Aug 2009 15:15

If you don't have her on a census, how do you know her parents are John and Mary? A baptism record?

Yup, saw that one. You refer to her at the beginning of this thread as

ELIZA LILEY

and the baptism is for

ELIZABETH LILLY

You say at the beginning she was born in St Pancras, and the baptism is in Shoreditch.

Silly me, I was looking for someone with the name you gave, in the location you gave!

Name: Elizabeth Lilley
Age: 15
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1826
Gender: Female
Where born: Middlesex, England

Civil parish: St Leonard Shoreditch

Elizabeth Burgad 30
Elizabeth Lilley 15

I'd have a look at that one.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 28 Aug 2009 15:35

The 1841 census you have:

John Lalley 40
Mary Lalley 29
John Lalley 7

It isn't really very likely that someone aged 29 has a child aged 15.

I would wonder about this household in St Leonard Shoreditch:

John Lilley 50 (I can't read his occupation - Timber ?)
Mary Maria 40
John Maria 20
William Maria 22
Eliza Baker 15

(as ridiculously transcribed by Ancestry)

You know her father's occupation from her marriage certificate? The DOB you give for him is a guess?

Stephen

Stephen Report 28 Aug 2009 15:37

the information I gave was correct - she was born st pancras but baptised Shoreditch............there was so many variations of Liley - Lily, Lilly, Lilley, Liley even Lalley.........I am not entirely sure which is correct

Stephen

Stephen Report 28 Aug 2009 15:49

i see what you mean about them having a 15yr old............maybe we just havent found them all in 1841
