Can anyone confirm if the following 2 people married each other
Benjamin Davies married in CARMARTHEN ref. 11a-750
Elizabeth Jones married in CARMARTHEN ref. 11a-749
July to Sept. 1852
Thanks for help, sorry I misled 730 did look like 750. Anyway it appears neither of the above are my grandparents,because they had their first of 6 children in 1852, I checked quickly BMD marriage records between1850 &1852 and this appeared to be a possible link. Some of you mentioned about clicking page nos. to get complete page, is this somewhere different to what I am looking at, as I'm only looking at pages with relms of names, not just 4 couples.

Its unusual not to follow with the same entry number for both,
is there an alternative for each person as in spouses, the certificate maybe be the only proof, unless a parish register has it recorded.

if they are on different pages then they arent a couple Marriages were then listed four couples to a page so should be 4 male & 4 female to each page .The next page would be for the next four couples.
Have you looked at the acual GRO page to check the entries

Your PM to me refers to your grandparents...........I venture to suggest that 1852 is incredibly early for them to have married, in view of your year of birth

I also note that you are using GR to look for info - not the best idea, by any manner of means

If the births I posted are your father and uncle, their mother's maiden surname was Evans.

Can you tell us where you got the info about Benjamin and Elizabeth - specifically, where you learnt that her maiden name was Jones.......

Last update still incorrect, it should have read great grand parents, Information listed from others about Leonard William Owen Davies is correct and his parents are Owen Davies & Catherine Evans.
Benjamin Davies & Elizabeth Jones are the parents of Owen Davies.
As suggested I will look at Freebmd for future info on marriages.
Owen Davies was their 5th child in the 1871 census and they were living in LLandygwydd Wales. The first 3 children had left home and are only mentioned in the 1861 census.

This looks more likely to be the marriage you want - as all the family originated in Cardigan, Carmarthen seems a bit 'off track'

You haven't said where you got Elizabeth's surname - Owen Emlyn's birth wasn't registered, so it can't have been from his birth cert

HI Freewheel, all very interesting info and factual.
They are my grandparents and I agree with family from Cardigan, doesn't help when records incorrectly write the surname. I will order the 1858 cert.
Your theory regarding Benjamin being married twice is feasible as there was a 6 year gap between the 2 batches of children, of course he might have been in prison!!!!.
Regarding how I arrived at Owen Emlyn Davies's parents is quite simple as I have his birth certificate 11b-12 born 14/2/1865. However it appears Emlyn is a red herring as he was born just Owen Davies. Apparently in later life he had an affection for the town Newcastle in Emlyn hence added Emlyn to his own name. It is also interesting to note his death is registerd twice, once as Owen Emlyn Davies and then as Owen Davies ref.1937 jan/mar. 11b-1
