Too right Ginns!!

I used to believe in 'Customer loyalty' but it seems you have to shop around every year now and save LOADS !!!

We are with Direct Line and were with them last year also.

I can't remember all the details now but when my renewal came through it had gone up quite a lot and like you, we had had no claims.

It had been in my name!

My husband did a search to see who came up best and he did it in his name.

He found that the same policy, with the same Company came up under his name approx £140 cheaper at £252.

SO, - we did not renew under my name but took out the same cover under his and saved about £140 !!!

There is no logic to it !!!

I had that with DL for motor insurance> I must have been with them since soon after they started till about 3 years ago.

My insurance kept going up so in the end did the go compare thingy and got a quote for half the price, when I rang them to cancel he asked what my new quote was and said Ohhh we can't match that, but maybe you will come back to us at a later date.........dont think so

No not seen her Toots maybe she is away?

Just watching an old Top Gear as usual!! and they are in the IOM so what is the accident rate like there if there is no speed limit out of the towns?

OOOhhh that would be nice Ginns!!

MUST get my passport renewed though - I let it expire over 2 years ago when I got 'poorly'

Strange to be without it as I used to travel abroad probably 20 times a year + 20 return trips with my job !

That is my 'task for this month' !!!

Gins

Yes we all go on a Caribbean cruise ---

Dea

Dea Report 5 Feb 2011 18:14

No Renes - I don't want a Cruise!!

Anything else but that and Tu (buddy) nisia as we hatefully named it when we returned from there several year ago !!

Even before the 'troubles' there at the moment - I always said that if I ever won a luxury holiday to Tunisia (a genuine one that is), I would tell them where to stick it !!!

A horrible place with a horrible culture and horrible people !!! ( I am NOT at all racist in any way but when I went there, these were the impressions I came back with).

I am sure there is a good reason for them behaving the way they do but I don't understand it and I don't like it !

Dea Xxx

P.S. - I am sure there are some very lovely people there but unfotunately I did not meet any of them !!

My OH went to Tunisia before I met him Dea but I think he enjoyed the experience. I suppose everyone sees things differently.

Better go and see who needs a message.... ~~~~~~

Dea

Dea Report 5 Feb 2011 18:44

Yes, I have to say Cynthia,

When we were there we met MANY people who returned year after year - they loved it !!

Unfortunately, I didn't !

We are all different!

I have been a morethan customer for years cos they have always met others quotes...It also includes full breakdown cover for the whole of Europe ,relay the lot..Fully comp at £240 a year
HID insures his van with Kwik fit as they are the cheapest anywhere..£100 a year 3rd party fire and theft...The van aint worth more than a grand so no point in having full comp..

Jax accidents seem to be on the increase.  When I moved here nearly 30years ago there was no speed limit anywhere on the island, no traffic lights and no roundabouts.   The keys to the car where left in the ignition.  Obviously when TT fortnight is on we have a higher traffic accident rate.

People never locked their doors or closed the windows when they went out. There was no litter dropped or vandalism either but in the 1990's Capitol and Corporal punishment was taken off the statute books and crime increased, yet the politicians deny there is a connection

Dea

Dea Report 5 Feb 2011 19:26

Bring back Corporal and Capital Punishment - That's what I says !!!

Particularly for people like the one who caused LK so much suffering !!!

Dea Xxx

Gee

Gee Report 5 Feb 2011 19:38

Look at Dea Dea with the 'Tash'.....never bring back that sort of punishment

You cant take it back when you have murdered the wrong person

Gee

Gee Report 5 Feb 2011 19:39

Just to add.....there are no people born bad

So we need look at what makes them do bad things...eh?

TootyFruity

TootyFruity Report 5 Feb 2011 19:41

I'm not in favour of Capital punishment just in case they get it wrong however, I am in favour of Corporal punishment. Just the threat of the cat o nine tails was enough to keep law and order. Back in 1979, when I was a student, I did a couple of summer seasons waitressing on the Island and a couple of lads who were on holiday would remind each other to be on their best behaviour because you could get birched for graffiti. The threat of the birch was enough to deter.

The toe rag who attacked LK should be flogged.

EDITED to correct spelling

Dea Report 5 Feb 2011 19:42

I haven't got a 'tash' Ginns !!

I DO agree with you to a certain extent and the rules would have to be VERY stringent to make absolutely certain you have the right person. BUT, If you do and if it is 'proved', then I think there is a place for it !!

I remember at primary school a teacher throwing board rubbers accross the class room and the boys did get the slipper. I got a few punches in the back from the headmaster when I was sent out of the classroom for being naughty
