Find Ancestors

Please could someone give me a helping hand. I am having a

problem finding this family on census records.

William Henry King b1855-1926 married Frances Mira Hind

1851-1934 on 25-01-1875 in Nottinghamshire.

i am unable to find a birth for him on free BMD but believe I have

found him on the 1861 census b Ingold Lincs.

His father Francis King b 24-01 1830 in Ingold Lincs is on the 1841 but not the1861 census.
Is this usual not to find a birth record. I have had problems with missing marriage records then found out they weren't actually married. I would appreciate any help with this

It was'nt until 1875 that they imposed a law to fine you if you did not register a birth so maybe he was'nt registered.

But he was Christened.

Barbara If they said they were not born in the parish in which they lived they could not claim parish releif if on hard times. They were sent back to where they came from if they needed releif. Old question too "Where are you from?"
