Well one of the problems is that St Olave isn't in Middlesex. During the 1800s there's a St Olave in Surrey under the registration district of Southwark. Also one in Exeter, Devon, and one in Yorkshire. |

This definately would be the right age to be our Robert's father but no son in the 41 census or 51 census and he was supposed to be born in 1836-39. He died in1904 |

Have a look on FMP to see if his Army discharge papers are on there. If not, you have to know which Regiment he was in to establish from other Army Records when he was sent to Canada. Does the marraige record only say Foot Guards or is there a number before the word Foot which would indicate his regiment? |

Have you looked on FindmyPast to see if there's an Army record for him? If not, then it would have to be a search of Muster Rolls for the Scots Guards at the National Archives to see if he is listed with them(assuming the Muster Rolls have survived) |

The Coldstream Guards are the ones known as Her Majesty's Foot Guards. |
