Thanks Sylvia
I have Maria in the 1861 census birth 1857 Beranbridge Surrey. then can not find her.
What I am trying to find is her birth to see what her mothers maiden name was, as I can not find a marriage for her parents ( if they were married )
Could be George Stevens born Buckinghamshire 1824and Catherine Hunt born Gibraltar 1827
this family is my friends brick wall.

I don't know whether you have this ....... here are Richard and Catharine in 1851. Is this how you got to the possible maiden name for Catharine?
1851 Census
Name: Richard Stevens Age: 2 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1849 Relation: Grandson Mother's Name: Catherine S Hunt Gender: M (Male) Where born: St Lukes, Middlesex, England Civil parish: St Luke Old Street Ecclesiastical parish: Charterhouse St Thomas County/Island: Middlesex Country: England Registration district: St Luke Sub-registration district: Whitecross Street
Thomas Thomas 42 b.ca 1809 Mary Thomas 50 Adolphus Thomas 13 John Thomas 11 Thomas Thomas 8 Catherine S Hunt 24 b.ca 1827, Girbarltar, British Subject, Married, Shoe Binder Richard Stevens 2
someone has added alternative Information for Catherine:-
Name: Catherine S Hunt [Catherine S Thomas] Age: 24 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1827 Relation: Daughter Father's Name: Thomas Thomas Mother's Name: Mary Thomas Gender: F (Female) Where born: British Subject, Gibraltar
Catharine is shown in the 1861 Census as Boot Binder
AHA
great confusion on the census image
Catharine is NOT associated with the Thomas'
she should be with Richard and Mary Hunt on the previous page.
The Thomas' are on p. 1, repeated on p.9, and then crossed out.

Hi Sylvia
George Stevens 1824 Buckinghamshire and Catherine Stevens 1827 Gibraltar are on the 1861,1871,1881, census
on the 1851 George is with his parents listed as married,in Islington
Catherine is on it as Catherine Hunt daughter married with a Richard Stevens grandson, they made a mess up of the pages there is a Richard and Mary Hunt on another page with the same household number.
I can not pin down any of George and Catherines children birth to send for a certificate
thank you Annabel

You are quicker than me that is the family, as Catherine says she was born in Gibraltar so can not trace her birth, have tried tracing Richard Hunt 1795 born East Grinstead

I think place of birth for Maria on 1861 census is Bermondsey, Surrey.
She is aged 1, not 4, on the original census return -

I did notice when searching for the childrens possible certs that there were two registrations for a Richard and a Joseph for the St Pancras district which is close to the Islington area.
England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915 about Joseph Stevens Name: Joseph Stevens Year of Registration: 1851 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Pancras (1837-1901) County: London, Middlesex Volume: 1
Page: 366 (click to see others on page)
Name: Richard Stevens Year of Registration: 1848 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar District: Pancras (1837-1901) County: London, Middlesex Volume: 1 Page: 41 (click to see others on page) EDIT correction don't think this can be your Richard as it is a January reg therefore born in 1847. Vera

That Jan-Mar registration means any registration during those 3 months
thus it could have meant a birth any time from mid-November to end of March (if they'd got to the registrar quickly!)
so it doesn't rule out it possibly being Annabel's Richard.

Thanks for the info. Yes of course it could be 1847 or first quarter of 1848. Even thats stretching it a bit because I believe Richards was dob 1949 but may be.

Sent for Maria Stevens birth certificate, her mother is Catherine Stevens formally Brush father George Stevens iron foundry worker so same family that I have in the 1861,1871, and 1881 census, Catherine born Gibraltar, George born Great Missingdon Bucks
So on the marriage certificate of George Stevens and Catherine Brush in 1845 her father is a Samuel Brush occupation tailor, been looking for him but no luck any fresh eyes have a look for me.

Getting back to your first question. The address on the baptism record is 15 Stowage as Sylvia said. If you Google "Stowage" in Google Maps you will see this street is in Greenwich - it's still there, just a short way from Deptford High street.
